asprilla was one of the top in the world when we signned him, i dont think shay given would have much trouble getting in any side in the world, he would look even better if we had a decent back 4.

STi Subaru's probably one of those many Red (Manc or Scouse) supporting fans from Leeds. Maybe he supports Leeds?

When we talk about average teams, we should include Liverpool FC at present - when they're without Steven Gerrard...

Scouse Reds = One Man Team

Manchester United lads. Thing is I know when my club is going through a decline. At least we managed to win a few things before that decline started

Born in Warrington now living in Leeds

Dont tell me manure
Got it in one! From Warrington but didn't fancy supporting his nearest League Club (Wigan), and went for glory instead...

Has he? Gosh, wonder who all the other Chairmen were? One was Sir John Hall, who brought Kenny Dalglish to NUFC. So, 2 ex Reds as Manager in 113 yrs and only one brought by FFS. Try harder next time Ducky!

And you'll find his association with Newcastle United FC is longer than it is with Liverpool. KK hasn't been a Red for almost 30 years, but he'll always be Black and White!

Well you'll have to blame my dad for that one. Glory at the time would have been Liverpool but I went with the family

According to a lot of papers this morning, Newcastle are going to try and get Martin O'Neill this week. And the Sunday Times says he is "very interested" in the job, and talks will start this week.

The talk is he fancies the England job, but I see him more as a day to day club manager

Although I would be happy with O'Neill, I would be happier with Hitzfeld. O'Neill has always had his teams playing rather direct football, which I wouldn't be too keen on seeing at Newcastle. But he may do things differently with better rescources. Hitzfeld's CV reads better as well, 2 Champions League with 2 different clubs, and 6 Bundesliga's!

Howay! Hitzfeld for the toon!!

If O'Neill wants back into football but still wants to spend more time with his missus then I suspect he'll opt for the England job so he doesn't need to put is as much day-to-day effort as a club manager needs to.

True, but he'll be away from home a lot too - and for long periods. He may see NUFC as the better option - more work day to day, but at home most nights - or down the Bigg Market!
