Awesome cars, like a mini Ferrari Daytona, always loved them myself.

Do the wheel arches have extensions like this one http://www.classiczcars.com/photopos...18sam_025_.jpg
If so that car you are aquiring is worth quite a bit of money if its a good one. The Super Samurai is a very rare car these days and if its all original you could be owning a very valuable car.

I had a 240Z for 23 years and only sold it 4 years ago because it wasn't doing any mileage due to the Scooby
If you have a Samuri it will have a gas flowed and polished cylinder head, usually a standard camshaft, triple Weber carbs and either a Janspeed or GDS Flamethrower 6 branch exhaust manifold It will have 200 bhp, 0-60 in 6.4 and 0-100 in 17.0 secs. The red is the original Datsun colour and the gold is actually a Rootes shade! The gold will also probably be edged by a white coachline. Wheels could also be either Wolfrace slot alloys or genuine Minilites, which are now very hard to get. Try the Z Club or the Classic Z Register who have records of all the chassis numbers etc (the number is stamped into the bulkhead next to the brake servo and should start with HS30 for a 240Z) but the actual number of Samuris is a mystery because Spike Anderson who converted them also sold cylinder heads, cams etc separately all of which I fitted to mine but I couldn't call it a Samuri because it didn't have the colour scheme. PLEASE post some photos up when you can

240Z's are collectable, they make great and very very successful historic racers. Samuri versions sought after. Do not break it, and no not let it go to someone who will mess it up.
Even a basket case Zed is worth a couple of grand, a perfect one £ 10k + at least and going up!

What happened to this car if you don't mind me asking, don't ever ever ever cut it up (unless it is a pile of rust).... I'll take it off your hands
Do you know what the VIN number is (above brake/clutch master cylinders stamped on bulk head).
Anyway nice find!!

(btw if anyone has an R160/R180 LSD of about 3.9+:1 let me know).

Depending where you are, you could contact the Z Farm in Ripon, North Yorkshire for help and advice about getting it running again. They restore Zeds for Nissan. Tel: 01765 620238
Cheers
The L series engine (used in the 240/260/280z etc) actually became the RB used in the Skyline (pretty much).
Come chat to us at zclub.net if you are thinking of a restoration, my car is currently stripped entirely and they are really nice to work on.
Also the diff from a Scooby is/was based on the same casing as used in the 240
So I'll be fitting a WRX LSD into mine soon
