Bobs gave 488 bhp / 425 ft/lb

Mine gave 375 bhp / 350 ft/lb
off the graphs i got 1 bar at 3900 RPM, 1.5 bar at 4450. just after this RPM i had a slight problem which has limited the horsepower a bit, realistically it will be around the 400 mark. i was only at 1.2 bar at peak power 6500 RPM. Will have to go back there to see when i have the problem sorted!

The TD05/06 20G car on the day did not perform well at only 325/300. Bob has a slight doubt as to what the turbo actually is though.

Pickles car gave a storming 395/330 on a turbo dynamics TMI 141S hybrid which by all accounts is very similiar to a TD05/06-20G

Dyno was at G force motorsport in Aylesbury.

Hi mate, still no sign of the headers and earth kit... Sent email but no reply...

Would a GT30 be a compromise between the td06 and gt35? Not really looking to produce as much as the
GT35. Cars going to be used on the hills so i'll need something that produces nearer 450 with a quicker spool..(2.3)

Doug, a true GT35 and GT30 are huge things which will not sit in o.e position.

As tweenierob says this hybrid is a not a GT35 as its commonly known.

Heres the graph Rich, as said all going well until i hit a AFR prob at 4600 RPM which has put the mockers on it a bit. little bit of mapping required and will improve things.

very happy all in, and once this is sorted should be pretty impressive.

I forgot all about this! If I'd have remembered I'd have come along -doh!

Good result Mark. What is your next target with the fully built engine and have you sorted the gear box to cope?

Hi Floyd,

obviously its not a bad result mate, but will put it back on the rollers once its been tweaked as there is obvious room for improvement - Rather oddly you dont feel the hole though as you just drive through it

I am building another botom end with a RCM crank, Arrow rods, Omega pistons that will take a lot of horsepower but i think i will just keep the P18 housing and up the boost to o.e ECU max and hopefuly have a nice reliable 420/360 ish car. I think the spec-C bottom end in it now may not like it at that power

when the gearbox complains, will put a PPG helical set in i think. Drove Bobs car on saturday and i think that kind of BHP is a bit much for my daily trip to work

The compressor is a GT35 one from a non ball bearing turbo, it's actually the same used in some GT30 turbos with ball bearing cores (the core is from a gt30). I guess saying it's a gt35 hybrid makes it more saleable.

On the rollers the boost ran at a touch under 1.8 with 1.75 from 6k to 7.5k

Graphs of the run

The graph i posted early in on the thread does not quite do the turbo justice, so only fair to put a new one up.

After a map tweak, Bob did a DD run, showing any errors in the curve (on the road anyway) are now sorted. Peaks at 300 WHP

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...erformance.jpg

Then took it to G force yesterday, where it gave 405 at the flywheel with 342 ft/lb. Boost peaked at 1.4, holding pretty much all the way and now has a lovely torque spread. Boost response on the rollers is not as it is on the road, 1.0 bar being achieved at 3600 RPM on road but well over 4000 RPM on RR.

Nice one Bob

Mark,

Looking at the graphs, the torque follows the boost almost completely, this shows good efficiency, and that the turbo isn't running out of puff. Interesting to see the correlation between the DynoDynamics WHP and deltadash figures.

I agree Paul.

The top figures are amazingly close, but i would be interested in your opinion on the levelling of the power at 5000RPM on the RR compared to the DD.

The car drives fantastic on the road and you cannot notice it at all.Bob has said AFR on the RR did not match the DD and i can see that spool is much later on the RR as well. Obviously the map is pretty much bang on the money now.

I dont really have much of a clue on FI engines, but i have seen this levelling on many NA bike engines in the upper midrange. I can normally get rid of it (with minimal detriment to peak) by messing with intake trumpet lengths and/or cam timing, but do you have an idea what could be causing this?

Probably wont do anything about it cos the DD curve is so good, but would be interested in knowing possible causes?

I think this may be because you are not allowing the turbo run to higher boost through the mid range , to protect your engine . the rollers may just show this more? . if with a built engine , you could let the turbo keep boosting to the max through the mid and then roll it off sharply at the top as it runs out of puff , the power curve should be smoother and wider up at the peak.

A few more graphs on my website if you want more comparisons.

I had this turbo with the intention of winding it up properly once I'd blown the standard UK bottom end up, however 2 1/2 years on it's refusing to let go, so I'm stuck with 1.4 BAR for now.

www.ashlyn.plus.com

I'll get round to doing the photo gallery properly one day.

Andy

Found this thread about the RCM GT35 turbo and want to bring it back to life!

What will the spool (with the P20 housing) be like on a fully built EJ22 with STI V6 heads and 6 speeder?
