as for the morpheous he never even told me or contacted me until about 2 years later when he dropped it into s thread of mine, had he of told me closer to the sale i would of refunded him fully i do not deal in bent goods
In those 6 months obviously I had lost your details and you were posting under various aliases so I had trouble tracking you down.
Anyway, water under the bridge, but your post made me laugh anyway.
Well tbh all I can say is 'sold as seen'. Everyone knows that is the rule when buying and selling cars privately. I've bought and sold a few in my time, as most of us probably have. Most of the time I've done OK, occasionally I've made mistakes. I've been on both sides of the fence as well. Bought a couple of motors that seemed solid and then a couple of weeks down the line turned into money pits, but also I've sold a car that I had every faith in and ran sweet as a nut, I'd just put a new ticket on it and everything...yet the very next day after I sold it, the engine started making funny noises and wouldn't run properly!
It was just one of those things. The geezer rang me up and moaned. I told him the truth, which was that this was a total shock and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it when I sold it to him. I did feel bad about it, so I offered him £50 towards whatever work it might need, which he accepted after a bit of umming and ahhing. Bottom line was I needn't have given him anything if I'd have wanted to be an arsehole about it.
I know it's tempting to think that you've been deliberately stitched up every time you buy a motor that's not as solid as you thought it was, but I'd rather stick with the system of 'sold as seen' than kill private car sales entirely because everyone would be scared of getting sued over a car whose gearbox goes and fails a fortnight after they sold it.

With regards to the Morpheus; the law is very clear. If the kit was bought with a stolen credit card, then 'apples 24'; 'LeeS2'; 'Lardypants' or whatever else he calls himself, never had good title to it. Without good title it wasnt ever his to sell. The kit still belongs to the original vendor and 'apples 24' owes 'G00ner' the money back that he paid for it.

GC, thanks for the support, but I put it down to experience, I wasn't posting here to get my money back, I just didn't want the thread poster to get any sympathy.
