'Scoobie's and IT'

I'm in I.T. as well. Maybe us I.T. bods are all too intense and logical at work and need to wind down, let it all out etc. at the end of the day in some insanely fast machinery.
A youngish accountant bloke here just bought a new 318i BMW for over £20,000! Nice car, but slooow, maybe like the job? - sorry if you're an accountant.
Any other this job = this car comparisons?

I used to be a contractor...COBOL, PL/1, SQL, DB2, etc.
Then all the contracts dried up and I committed "permicide". Got a job with a an e-Commerce company, doing ASP. 10 months later, I'm a Project Manager.
One window on Microsoft Project, One on Word, and one on Scoobynet!
Nice...

Just kidding....
Sorry - you know how Friday afternoons in IT firms get...
Just got back from a Fish 'n chips lunch and am ready for a nice siesta. Shame my boss is a total to55er with less right to roam the earth than a syphillitic weasel.
Aaaah... now that's much better. Nothing like a quick rant to clear the mind.

Me an all.
Web Architecture & Infrastructure.
Working from home mostly these days so the STi is sitting on the drive, taunting "Can we go out to play, please...".
Which reminds me, theres only 4 pints of milk in the fridge, I'd better do a cross-country supplies run.
cheers,
Dave

i'm 23, graduated uni 2 years ago in sport and leisure management. wanted a scooby then.
not too much money in sport (unless you are v.good), accounting, hmmmm? too much hard work and study, IT, hmmm that sounds ok i'll try that.
Now, 2 years a COBOL and FOCUS (does anybody use/heard of this) programmer, training in Java. Picked up my MY95 WRX on wednesday and I am a very happy bunny
No other Scoobies here though

Chalk up another one. Dial-up, firewalls, routers, DNS etc. Basically running an ISP (albeit for employee's only) and running the companies connection to the Net.
BTW Rikki23, the department I used to work for used Focus but I was never involved with it, pretty ancient stuff, if it's the same thing I'm thinking of.

Me too, IT Project Manager, disappearing under a mountain of paperwork, meetings, and project plans
But it does mean I don't actually do any proper work just make sure all the real techies do what they are supposed to and when !
Only scooby in the car park is mine.

Yet another IT bod.
Scada, Bar code, hardware and desktop support so;
NT, Oracle, DB2, wireless LANs, PLCs, Compaq servers, Win95, MSOffice etc etc etc...
Basically if its got a plug on it or batteries then I get asked to fix it. Which is why I only have time for Scoobynet when I get home
Variety is the spice of life as they say.
But Scooby wins everytime in the task priority list

Good to see some of you contractors are busy earning your hard earned money responding to this thread in working hours. Better take a note of the relevant names in case any of you apply for a job at my place(flame suit on !).
