I think I could find many examples where one car is 'better' than the other!!

Strange thing is I never feel like getting out of bed on a cold Sunday morning to go for a blast in the Cupra....'chug,chug, rattle, rattle'

Good video and if you take the comments as banter then it's all a bit of fun isn't it!!

But dont you think that if you owned a 330bhp+ petrol Ibiza cupra you might take it for a Sunday morning spin?. And i agree with the " and if you take the comments as banter then it's all a bit of fun isn't it!!".

Its only a vid of one encounter, i am sure if you went to lots of Rwyb days the sti vs ibiza runs in the big picture would favour the sti across the board.

RR - maybe I would but in yellow hmm...

I tried to break my scooby addiction with a Leon R a few years back but here I am a lost sheep back to the fold!! For me there is nothing like the flat 4 'dug-a-dug' noise and dreams of being Petter . If I just wanted to go quicker I'd get an Evo (ooh controversial, cue another range of responses!!)

isnt the ppp only for UK models? therefore that STI will not have been PPPd?

not thta it matters....the cupra can be made in to a road rocket anyway!! 2wd with similar power once moving will always be faster in a straight line especally with less weight!!

So no potential buyers should be on here. Only scooby owners. As for slagging them off if you really think people are then your well of the mark. Its just a video clip, nothing more nothing less. Watch it for what it is. The 2 same cars could be in another situation where 4wd and all the benefits that come with it could/should turn the tables round.

Sorry i also meant to say potentail buyers are fine, as they are also looking into coming on to the scoobie scene.

The point i was making was i belong to 3 other clubs other than this on and i know this is a much bigger club than the others, but the way people talk to each other is wrong and sometime's down right rude, and where i'm from you'll get a good kicking for it, considering we are all meant to be enjoying the subaru era.

That's what puzzle's me

Dont meant to cause offence to anyone.

I agree, there are people on here who resort to calling people names and start throwing individual insults about, theres no need really, its just a vid to watch take what you want from it.

i take it your insurance company says the same and a premium for a uk sti without PPP is the same as one with PPP.
Got it in one! Both Liverpool Vic and Privilege quoted the same for me - with or without PPP. With LV it was for 2 different WRXs and an STi. Privilege was for the STi, so not just a lucky one off when someone's made a mistake - 3 cars and 4 years of cover. Prior to LV, Tesco increased the premium by 10% - around £50 for me, so big deal...

Prodrive and Subaru are synonymous in many people's (and organisations) eyes. Full dealer support, warranty back up, standard servicing requirements etc, make it no more of a worry or liability than a standard car. And let's face it, the increase in power, whilst useful, is hardly earth shattering - 40bhp or so. Certainly not the kind of increase that the Cupra has. Did you also not say yourself that it had a duff coil and a slipping clutch? Pretty much says it all about modding cars.

I remember many years ago, Max Power running an article where they got together assorted Fiestas in an attempt to get them to hit 60 in under 5.5 secs. An original unmoddified Impreza Turbo was the target. One did hit 60 in 5.5, but every single other car, ground to a halt. The Impreza beat the target all day without any mechanical hiccups. Surprise! Surprise!

That was tongue in cheek, 1 cylinder down and a knacked clutch would not allow it to outrun the scoob.

I did wonder, but I'm so used to reading ridiculous claims in Scoobynet, I wasn't sure...

Besides, even Std Cupras have their Coil problems. I had 3 replaced on mine, yet despite calls on such TV shows as BBC Watchdog, VAG refused to recall. The dealer said I'd been unlucky, yet each time couldn't get one as a replacement as they were in short supply...

The Ibiza kicks out 150bhp in standard trim yes? Those engines can be tuned upto 260-280bhp before the need to have a front mount intercooler fitted. So we can assume that the Ibiza has over 300bhp, yes? And its lighter, and 2 wheel drive, (giving one hell of lot of wheel spin in the vid!) so far less transmission loses.
So yes, an ibiza with over double its standard power output, is a bit quicker than a standard 300bhp sti, once rolling, in a straight line.

Round a track? Hmmm!

A modified lada with similar power would also be a bit quicker than the sti, just the sti (in standard trim) has frightened quite a few Ferrari owners.

Again, i'm really not quite sure what you are trying to prove??

You see there is one mane problem with your lame post to defend the PPP Scooby it’s full of BS!!!
It’s based on your assumptions only so just to make things strait and I have no preference to the Ibiza ore the Scooby

Scooby is 100% ppp

Ibiza dos not have anything like 300hp it is using the original K03 that at its most will put out 240 hp

This is the Ibiza mods : OEM K03, 3" DP, FMIC with 2.5" piping, walbro 255, Upsulote chip, and greddy B2 set at 1.5 bar!

I know the car and owner of the Ibiza personally so all of this is a fact not fiction BS some people on the other side of the world are dreaming op to protect there pathetic love to the unbeatable scooby

A ppp is considered a mod as well so don’t give me the unfair BS

Funny talx, you seem to be the one with the chip on your shoulder! Yes, it is quicker in a straight line, thats pretty obvious from the vid. Ok, it has PPP, so what? Are you seriously saying that the ibiza would kick a scoobys backside around a track?? If the Impreza was built solely for straight line runs, I don't think they would have made it four wheel drive!
Anyone can modify any car, to what ever spec they want, or can afford. PPP is a dealer option (in the uk atleast ) which brings it to what the JDM has standard. So a JDM impreza is not modified is it? That Ibiza has been highly modified, is 2 wheel drive, and weighs around 3-400kg less than a standard Impreza. Welldone for beating an impreza! .

It makes me chuckle, how so many car nuts have it set into their brains that they MUST beat an Impreza. Why?
I bought my Sti 4 because I like imprezas and I could afford one at the time.
Are you saying that if you could afford an Impreza, Evo, Skyline, that you wouldn't buy one because the Ibiza is soooo much better??

The poster you responded to actually accepts that it is relatively easy to mod a car, ibiza included, to beat an impreza so no need for your stupid response about pathetic love of the unbeatable scooby.
Your response is a bit harsh here mate and wholly inaccurate. Think you should learn some manners b4 you post any replies in future.

Well done mate!
You have proved this particular cupra is quicker than that scoob.
Does that mean the ibiza is a superior car?
Take 10 random imprezas from Scoobynet and 10 random 20 valve T's from where ever it is you guys post, drag them up a strip and what would the result be?
