Angry Rebuild Shocker !!

I have just had a quote back for my 2.0 rebuild and I am still picking myself up of the floor

£2655 +vat that was on sti 9 internals with acl bearings, rebore, gaskets and labour.

plus I need a new clutch and flywheel, plus oil and sundries etc

plus another remap so thats about 3.5k plus vat ball park all in

Thats a lot of money on a 2.0 API quoted me £2300 for a straight rebuild with sti 5 parts including labour on my 2.0

may just look for a working sti 5/6 engine to get it back on road and rebuild this one at later date or sell of the heads and bits to get some money back

otherwise its sell the car as it is requiring engine as a project for someone, and go off to lick my wounds

The thing that is getting to me is that would mean I am paying more than I was for our 04 wrx, the reason we sold it was because with moving our mortgage payments whent up and so did my train fair so we couldnt afford the payments on the 04, so sold it to buy a cheaper one, ironic that this would cost more now to keep a 99 classic than on a 04 that I cherished.

I see no option than to sell it as an ongoing project for someone

Not a good day, need a beer or 10 now

sorry to hear that Steve, a common issue it seems quotes creaping up...if its not your only car why not just buy the bits as you can afford them and work towards the re-build...surley you should be posting this here anyways;

I am thinking more clearly now and have decided that I will find somewhere to store the car till I can afford to do it. You never know what bits will turn up, then i will be ready to pounce when they come along.

I am looking at a 2.5 project, looks like it will be a long term project but I cant bear to see it go, but cant afford to repair it at moment, so must go into hibernation till such time that i can breathe life into her once again

P.S. Are you on the new thread yet

We are not sure if it is clear for Squadron Communication, it may be using an unsecure channel, we need it officialy sanctioning.

Mate,

That's mint. Love the dark alloys.

Think they'd look good on me wagon?

Raver Alert... great stuff
Who needs nursery rhymes, old school lyrics are much better

...Brothers, sisters, one day we'll all be free
From fighting; violence; people crying in the street
When the angels from above
Fall down and spread their wings like doves
We'll walk hand in hand
Sisters, brothers, we'll make it to the Promised Land

You and I
We'll walk the land
And as one, and as one
We'll take our stand

When the angels from above
Fall down and spread their wings like doves
We'll walk hand in handSisters, brothers,

we'll make it to the Promised Land....
