the irony is, all the lads who ditched their scoobs years ago and bought M3's and other 3 series and now giving up on the next generation BMW's (e90) for a variety of reasons and moving on to other makes. In fact I may go back to 4WD but in the guise of Audi or Porsche.

All joking aside, I was astounded at how good a car the 120d is.

As long as space and image are not important, of course

I had a E46 323SE 4 door until just a couple of months back. Very yummy and sorry to see it go but needed the finances. Lap of luxury inside with leather seats and wood trim and pulled very hard, without stepping into silly insurance groups and strong residuals of the 330 models. Strongly recommended. Next car will hopefully be another beemer. M5 looks tempting

PM me if you need any more specific info.

If you enjoyed the 320 then definately test drive the 330, it's a completely different car. So much better. I brought one in September, it's quick, not neck snapping quick, but swift all the same, comfy, electric everything, reliable. Not too bad on fuel, and servicing is rounghly 15K.

Correct!

Mine returns 25-27mpg around town and 35-36mpg at 80-85mph on the motorway. It's a manual by the way. HTH.

The 320 couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. Go for an old E46 330Ci Sport, which can be had for the 12k mark for a decent one. New beemers are seriously ugly, 6 series aside that is.

Seems a bit high, i get low 20's round town and early 30's on the motorway. Maybe I should ease up on the accelerator sometimes.

Yeah, I don't drive it hard to be honest, however this is only what the computer tells me, not sure how accurate it is.

It does seem very economic though looking at it from a day to day point of view, especially for a 3.0 petrol.

Very impressed with it overall!

Yeah I'd have to agree, for a 3 litre it's definately not too bad. On a decent run it's easy to get over 30mpg. I think the computer is generally about 2mpg more than reality. It's only really the town driving that gets mine lower, I too don't drive it particularly hard, well not all the time anyway.

I hate BMW's - driven by tos$ers, and you'd never get let out a side-junction again..... however I am still going to look at a 320d tomorrow...

The appeal of rear-drive, 50mpg but still 0-60 in 8.5 just does sound good..
