Apart from that, I do hope your imaginary children don't have to take part in your sexual actions with your imaginary wife. After all, they did invent doors.

Absolutely nothing wrong with cloggie birds I can assure you!!
Just as there's nothing wrong with a stable ' married' couple adopting an unwanted child and giving it a chance in life.

So, back to my original question. What would you tell your newly adopted son?
Rannoch, you can go first. What would you say to your son when he asks why his two daddies make grunting noises in the night and why he can't have a toy gun?

Granted, it is not going to be a normal existence for them... but then how many children from a straight background have a normal upbringing?
As for the possilibity that some couples might only do it for sake of fashion etc, then yes that is perfectly feasible... but again, this sort of reasoning is no doubt used by straight couples all the time.
Im sorry, but homosexuality is normal. Its a fact of life, has been since humans were around. And is also prevalent in the animal kingdom. If that is not normal, i don't know what it is. I think your definition of 'normal' comes from what is currently socially acceptable. And i think my point on slavery, racial segragation comes in here. At the time that was social acceptable, and it was therefore 'normal' to look down on people from ethnic backgrounds.
Everybody seems to have this image of a gay couple being a pair of mincing idiots who have no idea of commitment, and love etc; this image no doubt enforced by how gay people are portrayed in the media. And yes, these people do exist. Just like there are straight couples out there that dont have a clue....
Dont tar everyone with the same brush.
Embrace change, in this case it is definitely a good thing. Sure, some kids are going to get bullied for it at school. But kids are very good at finding any little 'abnormal' thing about you, so whose to say they wouldn't get bullied anyway?

I'm not among those who just think that all homosexual couples are a pair of mincing idiots (there's usually 1 mincer and 1 masculine one btw....joke).
On the bullying point, I feel that they "may" be bullied, however in this situatin it's a guarantee IMO.
I think to summarize, I would have no problems this happening if attitudes were different, however I feel that attitudes need to be changed before same sex couples are allowed to adopt as opposed to using same sex couples adoptions as a means of changing those attitudes (if you see what I mean).
Good debate!! Hope it stays on track. Good debating, Chris.

I am really not sure how sexual preference relates to the possession of a toy gun. Or is that what your mummy told you her Jessica Rabbit was when you caught her using it
On a more serious note what to say to a child would depend very much on their age. Just like it would with any form of couple who were discussing relationships.
Evidence would suggest parents ability to discuss relationships and sexuality depends on their confidence not their sexual preference. There are many traditional couples who have no clue how to communicate to their children about these subjects.

If the children of heterosexual couples ask about the relationships of their parents friends, surely it would be explained to them if they are old enough.
When the child is at an age when he has to know the facts of life, I don't see how it would be difficult to explain.
Try "We're your parents, we love you, you love us, we love each other......."
Also, I don't think playing with Barbie would be forced upon the child, and also I don't really think that would cause the child to join a gay drag queen cabaret in Ibiza.

So all people who bring their kids up to be Muslim (Muslim people) are religious nutters?
And gays are "as bad as" Muslims in your opinion?
Very well done mate, at least there is now no doubt that you are completely and utterly insane!

Sociopath,
so is it only Muslims who can be religious nutters? Or can Christians, Jews, Hindus, Bahais, Buddhists, Taoists or any other religious groupings join in?
Maybe it is only if you have a religion AND are not white - is that how it works?
Just curious?
Oh, and please explain the importance of the toy gun - we all wait with bated breath
