it wasnt that many years ago that max power had a front cover issue with the headlines,,cosworth is dead,,long live the king,,showing the new power that was the scoob, but folk have lots more cash kicking around nowadys and i guess its just fullfilling an old ambition of owning a scoob,,so cant fault folk for that.years ago id love to have owned an escort cosworth but couldnt afford one,,maybe id consider that for old times sake too, lol.

The classic scoob is a classic in the same way that the 205 GTi is a classic.

Just like the scoob, the 205 GTi went through a phase when a lot were being bought by chav's who'd stick on a bodykit and all the bits - but there were always nice standard examples driving around - and they are the ones that remain today.

In 10 years max power chav's wont want scoobs, they'll all be driving around in something else - and thats when the nice clean examples of the classic scoob will start becoming more desirable again.

It happens to all nice cheap performance cars. You can either live with it, or buy yourself out of the chav-bracket with a newer model.

At the end of the day, as soon as any iconic car becomes cheep enough for the masses, then younger people are going to be able to get their hands on them.

Some of these new owners are going to be part of the 'cruising' crowd and add all kinds of plasic bits and garish paint jobs to them, topping-off their efforts with a 90 megawatt sound system and a boot full of subs.

So what?

The car is still well respected by all owners (whether chavs or not). I'd rather see the odd 'chav' happily driving his own scoob, than the same 'chav' stealing someone elses pride and joy, diving it for a few hours and then setting it alight at the end of the evening.

Each to his own.

Personally, I don't understand all this 'de-tango-ing' thing.....isn't that a bit, well, chav??

Is the above quote not the very definition of Chav especialy if you look at the other posts for the user has made. I do adore my classic and hope to keep it and leave it unmolested for many years but don't want to be put in the same bracket as this type of owner. But as has been mentioned before - in a few years when these people have got bored of there spoilt OTT modified classics and moved onto say Civic type r's ect then those of us who kept our classics clean relatively unmolested will have a car that will only increase in value just like Sierra cossie's, 205 GTI's & Mk I/Mk II Golf Gti's
