Lightly modded CTR Vs remapped 210 LCR:

Bye, bye CTR!!!

Had a 182, then to 320d (wench power
) and now had the LCR for a year.
Stock to 100 not much between the two but over treble figures and the 182 cant live with the LCR 9edited to say: cant live is a bit strong but the 182 is constantly dropping behind). I know this because my brother bought my 182 off me and we've had a couple of tussles. Re-map the LCR and the 182 can't live with it full stop. The only thing with the LCR re-mapped is that an old lady in an electric shopping buggy can beat you from a standing start, getting the power down from standing can be a nightmare.
Can't really comment on the CTR as i've driven one but not for long enough to truly know the car, my decision to go LCR over CTR is the LCR is much easier to drive quickly day to day. The fact the turbo is spooling at 2k and comes in at 3k means its much more tractable in everyday use, your not always changing cogs to find the optimum gear and its very rare to get caught out with almost 300lbs/ft of torque.
Like anything learn the car and you'd be surprised at how good the LCR is in the twisties, you can feel the weight to it but once you get past that shift in weight which makes the front dip when throwing it into corners it holds on for quite some time before letting go.

wow going by them top gear times the older shape ctr is nigh on 4 secs a lap slower than the facelift.I thought the facelift only had a lightened flywheel and 2-3 more bhp ,so is it really that much quicker or was the driver having an off day in the older one ......................4 seconds a lap on track is a flippin MASSIVE amount ,probably the equivalent of 150 meters ,so that means in 7 laps the face lift could have pulled over a kilometer

There is no spec available for the CTR that I could see, so how do you know whay if any mods it has?
I can only speak from experience, having seen both a CTR v a LCR at Brunters and the pod. There was not a lot in it tbh. Of course it is a lot easier and cheaper to get more power out of an allready f/i car compared to all motor. However the CTR as a complete package cannot be overlooked. With just k-pro (£600) fully mappable ecu and say an AEM or Injen induction £180 you can manage to hit 14 seconds not to bad.
I will say after driving the LCR I would say it did feel slightly more composed over more bumpy B roads than my CTR, the suspention whilst less effective on track did prove to be more complient in the real world.
To sum up I think both competent cars, that are both different and the differences may all boil down to your driving style.

Seems a pretty good package to me - having owned a Sccoby, Ralliart mitsubishi, Audi, Volkswagen and a fair few other makes, the LCR is put together pretty well - OK, not as well as the Audi, but close. My Scooby was a decent relaible car, but a little basic inside, the LCR is better specced and dare I say it more reliable all round - not the same sort of car as the impreza though - both good in their own right.
Compared to many more expensive cars, yes, it's just a SEAT, but I am guessing the reason me, you and most other people here don't run Bugatti Veyrons, Ferraris, Astons etc is that we can't afford it and make do with what we can afford - which i am pretty happy with at the minute cheers
, as are probably most Scooby owners. There endeth the rant!
I had a Leon Cupra once and in 9 months/12K miles it needed:
3 Coils
1 Gearbox
3 Door Seals
1 CD Changer
2 Front Discs
2 Front Shocks
1 Bonnet/Bumper etc Respray
1 Remote Locking Sensor
2 Front Tyres
And attention to the numerous rattles, squeaks etc. A heap of junk. I'd rather have my finger nails pulled out than waste money on another Seat.
The CTR's in a different class when it comes to build quality and reliabilty, although I can't get away with that strange "sticky" steering. Tried twice - bought the Seat once (mistake) and a WRX 5 Dr next time (wise move).
Cheers
PS All repairs done under warranty - including tyres due to suspension probs.
