I fancy a trip to see what all the fuss about track days is - spectator only though.
Anybody up for showing me the circuit from the passenger seat of some suitably modified scooby?
What do I need to bring (i.e. helmet etc?)
Dales
PS - Dreamweaver are you going?

Dales - Will be there, like I said last night will ring you this week, or mail you at work. If we need any skid lids my uncle may have a couple.
Harj - Keep me a seat warm in the 22B if you have still got it.
No sign of Buddy anywhere Dales, what's happened to him??

Crikey !!! feeling a bit intimidated after reading all that - I'm the old fart in the black 98 WRX up for my first track day with my wife - who also has a red helmet!!!
Keep off my tail - I'll be nervous and I've just got new brakes.

Phil, listen to the drivers briefing very carefully.
safe track driving is all about common sense AND understanding the rules.
The number of times newbies dont listen at the briefing is unbelievable. Pay particular attention to the passing rules, they will be very clear. Make sure you use your mirrors, you'll be amazed how quickly some of the experienced guys will catch you.
Finaly, dont try and follow me cos youll crash.

If there's one available get an instructor to sit in with you. Priceless.. If there are no instructors then see if one of the more experienced track guys will sit with you and give you some pointers.
and just remember two things slowly build up your speed and most important have fun

I have a couple of non scoobys interested. Can they come and what do I do. Should be a good laugh, met up with them on the Elvington airfield day, could be bringing a ferrari 355, a 430 bhp porsche, plus a skyline.

Are any of you guys going to oulton park from somewhere near essex?
I was rather hoping some nice person would be willing to bring some scooby wheels back from up north!
I realise its a bit cheeky, but it would be a massive help......

GOING UP THE A49 FROM HEREFORD Satuday about 5:00am in a UK my99 bog standard turbo. it may be slow but still brings a smile to my face!!!
Will be stopping Saturday night in Chester better to fall asleep in me beer than at the wheel.
See you all there at 8:00am or I just wave to you as you all pass me on the track!!

I drove both the 360 (LHD Swis import) with tiptronics, & Porchse on Sat at Elvington. The Ferrari was obviously awesome, lifetime achievment, but both myself and the owner had to agree, taking aside the 180mph speed on the straight, my scoob was in lots more fun!!! Stick with the scoobs!!
Question:
I want to get some spare tires racked up on a set of cheap rims for track days, and keep a decent pair for the roads. I don't want to spend a fortune on the track rims, and would prefer cheaper second hand ones. somone told me only the impreza rims fit impreza's. Is this true, or is there a cheaper way? Plus any advice on which tyres to buy would be well received.
Cheers
MJR
PS No non scoobs allowed. Sorry!!!
