Quote: I saw Vanilla Sky at the cinema when it was released. I got it, and thought it was ok, but some bloke a few rows down from me stood up near the end just as all was revealed and yelled "this is a load of sh1te" while pointing at the screen, then walked out. I guess he didnt get it.

My own nomination? The Blair Witch Project. WTF???? loads of irritating screeching and crying, then it ends. erm.....
Vanilla sky is probably one of my favorite films. 3 times of watching before i understood though.
Probably not many folk seen it but a film called Lost highway- BIG WTF.

About a guy stuck in Japan when he'd rather be somewhere else and meets up with a girl who is also at a loose end.

War of the worlds.

What a lot of garbage with no storyline or plot.

Tom cruise running away from aliens with his psycho daughter! What a pile of sh*t that film really is!

Just fiinished watching the dvd. The end credits are actually rolling as I type!
WTF? Total rubbish. It started well and then just kept on going down hill. It was deep, deep underground by the end... What was it with the bare basement scene with the crazy guy taking up half the movie? Did they over-run on the special effects budget and decide to cut back massively on the plot budget???

I'm embarrassed to admit I spent money on that.

Leaves all other films trailing in the 'WTF?' wake - a David Lynch classic.

Saw it the first time completely w@nkered so wasn't surprised I didn't get it.
Saw it the second time stone-cold sober and it made less sense.
Saw it the third time half-cut and things didn't get any better.

If you've never heard of it or seen it, check out a summary here and if you get a chance to see it, don't bother.

Cheers
Kav

I think that was David Cronenberg, not Lynch. Cronenberg also did Videodrome which has a great WTF-style nihilistic ending.

If you think the film the Naked Lunch was odd, try reading some of Burroughs' books for a proper head-f**king.

another vote for Lost In Translation......Critically acclaimed my ****.
But the worst film ever has to be Red Dawn, about a group of american kids holding up the whole Russian/Cuban armies. The only film I have walked out half way through!!

I love the way films cause a reaction in different people, makes for interesting thread reading..!

WTF's for me include:

1. Donnie Darko - cool and fruity IMHO - 10/10 originality

2. The Think Red Line - surprised no one has mentioned that. Not bad with some profound lines, brill phtography - but an overall WTF. I mean some guy blew his *** off, and George Clooney was in it for 5 seconds - bizarre

3. Deer Hunter - not bad, well kind of pants until the roulette bit. Does that make me a shallow violence junkie!?!?

4. The Ring - WTF in a good way

5. LOTR Return of the King* - The last hour was painful

*Originally titled; Lord of The Rings: You *** will be dust after three hours in the cinema.

plot of erazerhead:

Is it a nightmare or an actual view of a post-apocalyptic world? Set in an industrial town in which giant machines are constantly working, spewing smoke, and making noise that is inescapable, Henry Spencer lives in a building that, like all the others, appears to be abandoned. The lights flicker on and off, he has bowls of water in his dresser drawers, and for his only diversion he watches and listens to the Lady in the Radiator sing about finding happiness in heaven. Henry has a girlfriend, Mary X, who has frequent spastic fits. Mary gives birth to Henry's child, a frightening looking mutant, which leads to the injection of all sorts of sexual imagery into the depressive and chaotic mix.

make any sense ?
