Well that's the test I would like to see.

I suspect several light weight cars would be quicker.

well said that man, and totally agree. Whether you like that sort of thing or not, it's still just about the pinnacle of what can be achieved by man at this moment in time. That it took the ***** of the VW GROUP to go-ahead and commision it is kudos to them.
Those shots of the car blasting through the alps and northern france brought back excellent memories of THE STELVIO TOUR Awesome roads.

PS did anyone else think it looked like the big Tommy Kaira from GT3 when viewed from the side?

I recognized a lot of those roads too Chris Awesome machine. The french motoring channel AB Motors had it on a couple of weeks ago and whilst they also raved on about it, they also showed you many more shots of it standing still and it really is a beautiful piece of machinery. I look forward to seeing it in the metal at the motor show next year

Does anyone know what some of the music was that was playing during the race....I recognised something from the film predator, but there was some other classical stuff that was really good, one was Mars ( Holst planets I think ) the other was something that sounds like it was from an old war film, but cant remeber what...I have always thought it a really good piece of music...

anyone?

That is an obscene amount of fuel , by comparison, a Cummins diesel QSK60 in G3 generator variant, at full bore ( 1500RPM ....1850KWm/2460 HP/8000ftlb's/V16 config/quad 2 stage turbo ), 60 litres displacement, would only use 83 litres of fuel in 12 minutes....

JC quoted the combustion air requirements of the Veyron @ 500 litres per second , the cummins just pips it here with 2150

That's quite quick. Faster than a Hayabusa which is 2.8 secs. Suzuki is a lot cheaper then 5 million quid though so not a bad compromise.

Couple more shots for you - taken at the Top Marques Motor Show in Monaco in May. Stole the show - no question. Amazing looking car. I loved it

I really liked the look of it, but most of all the noise. That W16 sounds like it could blow your house down

Loved some of the other facts that EVO magazine quoted when they reviewed it.....

Each back tyre costs £1400

Not sure who got their sums wrong, Clarkson (again) or EVO, but they said that if you were sitting still in the Veyron and a McLaren F1 passed you doing 100mph, then you would still beat it to 200mph if you floored it

Still amuses me when Top Gear feature the top articles from the previous month's magazine...but I won't go down that road again

I can't believe that he made it from Northern Italy to London in that time, I don't care how fast the car can go, I just can't believe it.
