Sorry Kev... wasnt being arsey, just its the first meet I've been on with you lot, and perhaps I was more used to the relaxed mood of the Evo meets.
Did anyone see the spooky gust of wind blow the bottle of Vodka towards Chelle??
And which damn fool put us at the top of the most windy hill I have ever been on?
And why did it only rain once I'd managed to get to sleep, thereby waking me up. DOH!
Mellow, please, please dont take it personally !

I understand what you are getting at, but as Mellow says, a private chat/e-mail is the best way to resolve things. I have already told Mellow what a crap driver he is, to his face, but only after several pints

Thanks to all who organised the weekend, enjoyed every minute even though I only did a small section on the sunday, especially enjoyed the bit with Mellow Yellow and Super Slider.
Sorry about your driving lights Mellow but could it have been the Elise that broke one of them, you'll have to try and pass me next time
see you soon

My thoughts exactly Kev.
I spent Saturday driving with MDB and Boomer. On Sunday Mr & Mrs Craft joined us to lead the way.
I didn't see anything I winced at on either day and I thought the pace was spot-on (for me at least). Anything dodgy to report when I was leading on Saturday guys?

How very wounding! Okay, so I overshot one junction as I was a bit busy overtaking. In my defence, I thought it was going to be a T junction as there was a Give Way sign on the instructions.

Thought I'd wait a day before replying as I was angry yesterday.
I could write a mini novel as the instigator of this 'debate' and the only person to whom it has become personal for sure, but will just say two things
I wrote an apology to Brian to try to stop any confrontation as I heard he was upset with my overtaking manoeuvre, but just got slagged off in reply.
Maybe if Brian had slightly slowed down and indicated to let me past, none of this would have happened but somehow I doubt it.
Finally does everybody know we have a police officer as a scoobynet member on here ?

Ok folks lets keep it real!
OK I agree with Bri on some points & Mellow on others, that is why we have a breifing & try to get everyone to respect each other and every other road user!
Let's just agree, that despite the ravages of our exposed campsite it was an excellent weekend and even though we had a few drama's we had a load of laughs & grins too.
See you all for the Derbyshire meet? Not as much beer but some majic roads!

Since when were they supposed to be pace notes

Where has this come from? The rant seems very much towards Mellow, which is a bit unfair. Yes he may drive faster than some but hey he has a faster car. Also I'm no expert but a car with 6pots can surely stop a lot quicker than a standard car.
You even said that you had to floor it to keep up. Keep up with what it's not a race. You drive at your own pace and what you feel happy with. Hence the one's that want to go faster, go at the front so as they don't catch everyone up and if a faster one does catch up then the one in front usually indicates and slows slightly to let you past.
You also said that you had to keep it planted to keep it stable in the bends, so if a bike coming the other way hadn't see you, (been so low to the ground) couldn't the worse happen when you tried to avoid the bike. (not that I saw many doing 200mph except the one I took at 220mph)
As I said on chat last night I hope to see you on the next meet, as its good to see different cars perform and meet their owners. But please don't slag off and compare scoobie meet drivers to evo meet drivers, as I know I wouldn't want my name used as an example in a thread.
I hope everything gets patched up and hands can be shaken and in my opinion the standard of driving is great. The only problem is after overtaking a few cars in the open they seem to want to push you through 30mph villages at the 50mph they were doing earlier, and I bet they are the ones that live in villages and complain about speeding traffic.
Well that's the longest post I've ever done. God knows how many spelling mistakes there are. See you all on the next one Matt.

I don't think Bri directed it at anyone, apart from the 'actual' incident.
If anyone does take it personally they should take it up with me!
Calm down you lot! this was supposed to be fun!

Hi All
Sounds like a great trip!
Just to ad my twopence...
Bri was IMHO just making a sobering statement about this kind of meet in general and making it hit home by stating that it did happen on this meet also.
I have to say that this kind of thing worries me no end. I dread the day that I need to close scoobynet for a day out of respect for a good friend we've all lost.
The problem is, we can all get caught up in the moment / peer pressure / whatever you want to call it.
I think Bri was just trying to sober us a bit, and I thank him for it.
Maybe mentioning people by name was not an ideal way of dealing with it, but we all make mistakes.
The important thing is that we think about it.
Scoobies are increbible cars, and VERY VERY VERY easy to drive fast. But mark my words, they really CAN bite. When the limit is found you can be very quickly thrown from a cossetted world of safety into a world of split second judgement and pure limit handling with little warning.
On top of this, that log that has just fallen on the road around that blind bend, etc, etc, etc.
There have been some VERY serious accidents caused by this kind of "fun", and some horrific looking accidents where people have been "lucky" and only lost their pride and joy.
There are plenty of track days, etc where you can have a damn good spank!
PLEASE.. can any meets organised on scoobynet NOT include any kind of road racing. It is HIGHLY foolish, and DESPERATELY dangerous. It's only a matter of time.
All the best
Simon

Thanks for your apology, I accepted it. I did feel that 'Sorry for almost putting you iin hospital, but my mate was getting away from me' was on dodgy ground though. Still... you apologised and that takes a very big man. Thank you. (Also takes a man of brass ***** to walk into the sea!! )
Mellow, sorry for mentioning your name in particular, but you did jump to your own defense pretty sharpish. Sorry again.
Simon, sorry for that kind of post, but I felt it had to be said.
Charlie, sorry for pointing this out in a thread about 'your' meet, which was undoubtedly a great weekend spent with great people.
Bri
Apologies to all, I must just be a far less capable driver than you lot.

It should'nt be long . Whats up? After some advice??
My mate reads the BBS (Thames Valley Traffic) he is not allowed to voice his thoughts on matters in a public domain, he can offer advice in his own opinion that is not endorsed by any Police authority. No Police officer is allowed to comment on a BBS like this, without their Chief Superintendants approval.

Thanks to everyone who contributed towards the collection for the WCT organisers who gratefully declined the offer. £65 has now been donated to the Imperial Cancer Research Fund.

Sounds like everyone had an excellent time! Unfortunately I could not make it and wouldn't have even heard about it unless I had met Martin in the car park of my local gym! Now I've joined up to ScoobyNet hopefully I'll hear about meetings sooner!
Martin, did you join?
Cheers

Hi Chris
Thanks for the welcome! Its good to see someone noticed my posting!
I've had my Scooby for about 3 months now and is just (just!) the standard Impreza turbo hatch. Dark met green. Beautiful and fell in love with it the moment I accelerated round the Shrewsbury bypass. What a machine. Now definitely hooked.
Not quite uptodate on your Scooby description you gave me - but I make a point at waving at all Scoobies so i'll just keep on waving! See you on the road or on the cobbles of Shrewsbury (known intimately by my spine.)
Cheers
