Ring them and ask for Paul, if they have touched the motor he will know.

That's a nice car dean - but a bit too much for my wallet.

PSlewis - lmao

Well i've texted the guy asking exactly what work had been done on the car for £14470 but no reply yet. Damn I need a car to drive that's not a metro.

As far as I know the new scoobysport has no public premesis especially not in the Essex Area, so how can this guy be taking his car into Scoobysport to have work done??
Precisely the point that i made in post #6

Walk away - get your deposit (if you can)

It is a buyers market out there - and there are plenty of cars

Selling on behalf of his brother?

Change of keeper day after your deposit?

MOVE OVER on the bonnet?

Telling you that you have to pay for some work on it?

WALK AWAY!!!!

Like has been said ........... there are genuine proper Imprezas out there for sale - do yourself a favour, forget the mods. forget the stickers, go for a 1 owner UK car and modify it when/if you want to later!!

correct me if im wrong but the e bay advert said it has had the cambelt had been changed recently if the leak from the seal was that bad would (scoobysport) not have noticed it then and advised to change it? not sure? agree with the others sounds a bit dodgy try and get your deposit back and wait for another one theres plenty of nicer examples out there for that money and alot more genuine

Just an update on this - still haven't heard from the tit, don't think i'll get my deposit back unless I go down the small claims route.

Anyway I took everyone's advice and found another car (see link below) within my budget, newer and I don't need to spend time and money de-chavving this one

Count yourself lucky you'd only put a couple of hundred down and got to walk away. Cos if you'd have bought it that would have been you picking up the tab for the repair. But just to confirm, it definitely doesn't cost £1500 to repair a crankshaft oil seal. I should know, mine just went and it was much much less than that thanks to Scooby Shack near Norwich, who I would recommend whole-heartedly BTW.
