well, that just goes to show you can't always believe what people tell you!!

Simon and Harj should be able to shed more light on what happened as they were right behind him.

The important thing is the guy is still breathing, i know he had only recently bought the EVO after running with an Escort Cossie for years.

I wouldnt have thought they were much different though through craner?

I was about just coming down Craner when the EVO was going off, looked as though he never even used the brakes. Very scary as I saw him plough straight into the barrier! I stopped but my brother said he had seen the marshals driving over and said if we stop so will everyone one else. Just good to know he's gonna be OK.

I was at the Donington track day on Monday (white Skyline R33), does anyone know what happened to the unfortunate biker who went down on the back straight? Was he OK?

Shame about the Mitsubishi driver, hope he recovers soon, and has no lasting injuries, a pal of mine managed to *really* hurt himself a while back by putting his historic GT car into the end of the pit wall, coming out of the chicane and hitting oil. They now seemed to put some much needed protection around this protruberance, but I still wouldn't fancy belting into it... :-(

I'm off to annoint my burnt nose, boy it was *HOT* there!

AFAIK the biker had a minor shoulder injury.

Exciting day then eh?
Roll on the next one.

Stef.
PS Rob. You say Scoobs are capable of 125mph through Craner, but my car (and others?) will only do 120mph flat in fourth. Would you normally take Craner in fifth then, or are you referring to STi's which I presume have to use fifth anyway?

Stef.

Stef,

4th gear, speedo reading 125mph, P. Croney's car. (yes I know it is on slicks, but everything is relative...)

Sti's and 22B's etc. are in fifth if they have short gearing, but this gear is roughly the same as a UK 4th and equals the same (ish) speed down the hill. The cars exit Redgate in 4th (UK 3rd) and get to roughly the same speed as they enter the downhill section. A car of whatever spec.(UK or Japanese) is then only capable of maintaining a certain velocity around what is a fairly steep drop at that kind of speed. This speed is roughly the same for any spec. of car. An STi is no more capable of going around the corner than a UK car...

Either way it is still flat...

Rob.
