We met Richard at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2000. He posed for many photos with my wife and signed loads of things for us. What a guy. He had time for everyone, and posed with kids, babies and rally fans in equal measure. What memories he has left us!
RIP Richard
RIP Richard
My thoughts are with his family.
In the short space of time I have been following rallying this has been such a terrible year, Two of Englands finest taken.
The image below was taken in Cyprus 2003 at shakedown. It was my first trip abroad to watch a WRC event.
This image stuck in my mind as Richard was on fire for shakedown that day, a sight to behold, and a memory to treasure.

Nothing new or original to add, just felt compelled to echo the thoughts of others on here.
Never met the man, only saw him on various rallies, yet, for some reason, was almost moved to tears when I read the news. Absolute tragedy that someone who appeared to lead such a blameless existence should die so young.
I hope that the fact he was clearly so admired and respected by so many people is of some consolation, however small, to his family. My deepest sympathies to them.
God bless, Richard.
