But mate i dont know who Grade A are, just like i dont know who you are!

What i do know is that many people have praised Grade A and the guy himself has said he will replace the engine!

Why would your mechanic want to do the heads and not just change the Engine?......it does not make sence .......bit fisshy

But it does look like your little thread has back fired on you mate....goodluck with the motor!

I think i can say this on behalf of most scoobynet users.

Dont put a post running down a respected company and expect people to keep their opinions to themselves.

Surely the amount of positive posts on this thread should suggest to you that you,ve been completely unfair trying to name and shame, when they,ve tried to help you,and you,ve done nothing but throw it back in their face.

It must be a pain to have car off road, but try being a bit more diplomatic and you may find that the problem would have been sorted sooner.

re: Turboman's last eloquent statement..

This is a matter that could and should have been sorted out by contacting us directly, rather than resorting to petty messages on the Scooby Net forum. I assume that by not threatening us you didn't say "I don't want an engine, if you dont come up with the money for the head gaskets and skimming I will post it on Scooby Net"

I have spoken to your mechanic who advised me that the engne was already out, so there would be no need to take it out again.

I can also post many pictures of engines on this site.

I am sure that if you read my initial response you will find that I said I would collect the old unit and replace it with another. Does this not suggest that I would need the original unit back in return for the new one? I do not know of any company who would offer to send out a new unit without first receiving the old one back.

I have stated the facts and have been straight with you all along. I really don't think you have any further constructive comments to make on this matter. I would suggest that if you want to discuss this matter then you contact us directly and speak to us rather than posting further messages. I have been in the office all day awaiting your call!

In the time wasted in posting messages on the forum you would have had a new engine. It is YOU, not us that has caused the delay and expense.

Turboman, I really do not see what your problem is, there is a replacement engine sat there waiting for you, send the old one back and get your next one. When you buy secondhand there is no guarantees that there wont be a problem, but Grade A seem to have offered all they can to help you. Confused as to why you dont take there offer up especially when further delays is costing you even more money at your friends garage.

I've used Grade A a few of times in the past, and they've been spot-on each time. You never really know if stuff you get from a breakers will work (they can't check everything), but I've been confident that if I did have a problem, they'd sort it......otherwise I might as well buy new?

Having said that, everything I have got from Grade A is still attached to the car and working.

Andy I cannot fault your response it would be the same one as he would get from me @ scoobybits.
I reckon you have been more than fair and what some people like this fail to realise is that if you had the slightest idea the thing had a fault it would not get sent out.

Turboman best thing you can do is buy new in future and I will think you will find that warranty issue's can be just as common.

I would not be in the slightest surprise if the fault in this case is down to installation error.

Hope you get it sorted Andy
Turbo man I must say name calling on here achieves little in the way of sorting a problem it may make it a damn sight worse for you though.

And if you don't sort it scrap price is up at the mo..... only kiddin
I know a man with a good hiab wagon fast collection..........

If i was in Grade A's shoes i would not bother trying to explain themselves when everyone can see who the fool is (just swap the engine)

I also know and use Grade A, never a problem to get what I want, when I want it and fair prices too.

APi would insist upon seeing any ' faulty' goods supplied before l offered any sort of replacement or refund. In the engine business, which I have been for well over 25 years, it is a known scam to ring and complain that a head gasket is gone. 'But it's not a problem because we can fix it if you'll pay 50 quid towards it '

The engine is actually fine, it's just a way of getting the price down. If the amount requested is less than the cost of freight to and fro it's likely you'll cough up, rather than be inconvenienced. APi ALWAYS asks to see the alleged damaged goods, ALWAYS.

That's fair and also legal, providing no long delays through anything other than transport timing.

Andy's being as fair as he ought and I will not be in the slightest swayed by the comments of the unhappy buyer in my future dealings with Grade A.

So, do I understand this correctly? The poster wants Grade A to send him another engine before the other -allegedly faulty- one has been inspected/returned?!?!

So you have stripped the engine then? WHY?!

I take it your warranty will be void as such if you have stripped the engine.

It would be at APi because we have no way of knowing if the parts presented to us are the original parts any more. Standard practice.

That's what I assumed. Easy to make a head gasket appear 'failed'.

I've no knowledge of either party, but would say that Grade A have taken a sensible course of action to rectify the "problem". The responses from Grade A to rectify have been more than reasonable & I would class this thread as an advert for Grade A rather than the slating you intended.
The reason that Grade A come out smelling of roses & is that they have been fertilised by you.

I`ve only spoken to Grade A over the phone to pick there brains , so i`ve never actually had any parts off them, but i must say they gave extremely good advice and where very pleasent to talk to.
As for this transaction i don`t think you can ask Andy at Grade A to be any fairer he`s offered you a replacement engine and i`m sure if the replacement enngine was to have a fault then he would replace that aswell.
These thing`s happen and at the end of the day if you hadn`t spent so much time putting Grade A down then your car would probably be up and running by now.

Right thats me done.....

3 cheers for Andy, and Grade A ....

Seriously, Andy has and is doing everything by the book, and as trading standards would expect him to.

Ive had many dealings with grade A, and would recommend them in full.

Andy is an honest and genuine bloke, he knows his stuff, as do API and so do the people of scoobynet..

As said before, this is a good advert for 'Grade A'.

Right I think that is enough. Turboman I suggest you take this off line and sort it out with Grade A directly. These guys have built up a deserved reputation over the years. I suggest you take the advice from the many people who have posted on this thread and trust them. They've offered you an incredibly fair reconciliation of this problem, which you've chosen to refuse. I see no reason why this thread should continue - it's going no where.
