SW run to the "Festival of speed"
Bob,
As I drive around 40k a year on Motorways, personally i'd rather go the scenic route on weekends. Suggest we decide the this weekend and post meet places.
Cheers

Me and a mate are coming down from Cumbria on the Saturday, camping overnight nearby and starting very early on Sun. The gates open at 6.30 am
and you would be well advised to get there as soon as you can (I went last year and it was starting to get busy by 8.00).
It is a top event though and well worth dragging yourselves out of bed a bit early for (it's a 700 mile round trip for me

SteveB - is that ticket for the Sunday and still available? If so I want it!!!
I will be going to Goodwood from Epsom, Surrey - would love to join a convoy and meet some new friends (only been down here a couple of months) and the idea of meeting up with loads of Scoobs in the carpark sounds excellent
Anyone want to invite me to join their convoy and tell me where to meet them (local knowledge is poor so far so I'm very open to suggestions/advice/offers(!))

Hi all
I'm down staying with friends in the Fareham
area and will be attending all 3 days.
I'd love to meet up and join in a convoy on any of the days.
Just let me know the details and I'll be there.

Right, finally got my head around a route.
Meet Junction 18 M4, layby on A46 Stroud direction in 200yds - Meet there and leave by 7 to 7.10am !
Scenic route to Newbury - Nice roads.
Pick up 'er in doors who has delivered dogs to MIL.
Through Newbury to Basingstoke, Alton then onto Midhurst, again some excellent roads here as we've done this route three years running.
Drop down from Midhurst to Goodwood - These roads will now be getting busy. Meet up in layby just before the race course around 9.30am
Let me know if this is o.k with everyone.
Graeme, I'll have the spare ticket on me, Should be o.k for you to find us from Epsom.

Hi Chizz
According to my route planner we should take 55 mins to Newbury and then 40 mins to Alton. So about 95 mins from start starting at 07:00-07:10 we should hit Alton at 08:45. Famous last words ah, please allow time for Nozzer to eat his breki.
As Steve has posted his mobile No 0777 5535587 you can use this to hear our progress.

I am planning to leave Epsom at aroung 7:45 - 8:00am - Anyone fancy joining me? Hopefully to join up with the Bristol convoy as they cross the A3 - probably not the most direct route but should provide a good drive and gives us chance to bunch up with a few others and roll in together.
SteveB - check ya mail please m8!!!

Graeme,
Got your message o.k
See you Sunday morning. If we stop between Newbury and Basingstoke for some Brekky, then we could be a few minutes later than planned.

Good day had by all I think ?
The day started with four of us heading across Wilts, into Berks where we picked up Dave and then Graeme for some "steady" progress to Goodwood. Car parking wasn't as easy or as close as last year.
Highlights of the day were hearing the F1 cars doing installation start ups - awesome responsiveness. The F1 cars in action on the hill - bouncing off the rev limiters at 17k+ revs with lots of tyre smoke.
Carl Fogerty doing a mega burnout.
Personally, it's now got too big, too many people make it very difficult to see anything. Next year we'll go on the Saturday or even camp down there and do two days.
Nice to meet everyone today.

Great trip down and enjoyable drive back. When crossing the bridge at Goodwood and looking through to the road I think I saw a car, or it could have been a van I'm not certain. Just to many people there stood 5-6 deep the complete lenght of the track side.
I had a great day out and looking a bit sunburnt now too!! Thanks to all the Bristol guys and gals for letting me tag along. Must go again next year even if just for the F1 experience!
Thanks to Steve for coming up trumps with the ticket and other goodies!
Bob - sorry for holding you up behind that bl**dy Range Rover but I just couldn't get a clear view round or through it - you could probably see much more from behind me. Your car sounded great when you did thunder past though!!

Bob,Ian, Simon,
Was told by a friend in work today that the stretch of A4 between Calne and Marlborough that we "Stretched our legs" on, is regularly used by the police to trap the bikers !!!!!!
Apparently they meet every Wednesday evening at Avebury. Last week, he heard they caught 75 of them along that stretch. A fair few lost their licences. Gulp.
We also nearly collect a young lad after dropping Jackie off in Newbury. you know the story, parked cars, young kids... Something told me to expect something to happen and it did. If I hadn't been doing about 5 mph he would have been burried into my bonnet ! Luckily he didn't.
Take care out there.
See you soon

Steve,
Just come back from my oesteopath's, who has the R6, and he "uses" the A4 often and is one of the VERY few who have not lost his license along there, so it was good that it was early sunday morning. The drive down was entertaining although on the way back a large stone chip on the windscreen. On inspection, the orange things sprayed black by the driving lights are pebbleddashed.
Enjoyed the day, The F1 cars were unbelievable, too many people though.
Simon, impressed with the MY01 and your passengers tolerance!!!! That is why me missus stayed at home!!!
