you need to have it ordered specifically for you i think.

not sure if this would work->

you : can you get me a subaru wrx from anywhere in europe please?
MP: yes, actually we have some in stock.
you: well i'll have one of those then.
MP: ok, great.

Why settle for old stock when you can have new and at a discount according to alliance's web site so they must be confident the warranty problem is sorted

Subaru Impreza 2006 4 door WRX SAVE £4,455, WRX 5dr £3,995 and STi's SAVE £3,500 on list, New Unregistered, Our cars have Side airbags part of the UK specification, checkout the competion, I think you will find they do not have the side airbags
WRX 4 Dr £16,795 OTR, WRX 5 Dr £17,795 and STi £23,495 OTR Prices includes 3 years Subaru warranty and 1 years road tax, PCP WRX 4dr £2,000 deposit & 35 payments of £292 & GFV £7,336, 9.6 % APR

My trading standards enforcement team are being passed the case.

Can anyone from Kent who has a problem with Motorpoint/ Virgin et al. please contact Helen at Trading Standards on 01233-652-385, or email trading.standards@kent.gov.uk and note that it's for her attention.

Cheers

You order one via an intermediary specifically for you BEFORE the car is purchased by the importer from the originating dealer. The only effect this will have is that you won't be able to drive one away from stock and will have to wait around 2 months for delivery. This is TOTALY LEGIT and IM are legally bound to honour the warranty.

You'll still get it very cheap though compared to a UK sourced car.

Has anyone had an actual letter from IM yet confirming in writing that they don't have a warranty?

I have, dated 13th October. Mr Pyke from Subaru(UK) regretted ... 'that we are unable to arrange the warranty cover you seek' because they ... 'cannot support any activity that contravenes EU regulations.' The car ... 'was sold to you by an unauthorised reseller in contravention of the EU regulations that govern the selective distribution system under which Subaru operates within the European Community.'.

Has this been proven (i.e what does motorpoint, a solicitor or trading standards have to say with regards this letter?

Who sold you the car m8?

If it was Motorpoint what was their reaction to the letter and what was the Subaru MT reaction?

Both Motorpoint and Liaco have told me should I experience any Warranty problems they will intercede on my behalf.

They have not been specific enough to say what form this assistance will take though.

Malta are f@cking useless, they take forever to reply to email, and i can't be bothered to phone them.

I asked them weeks ago if i could PPP my wagon, and retain my warranty (LOL) they still haven't got back to me!

Motorpoint aftersales claim that i will be getting a letter personally from the Operations Director, detailing what they will do for me, so we'll see what he says.

I have to say that I have e-mailed Liaco half a dozen times and have always had a response within 24 hours.

However to date their assurances whilst re-assuring, are merely words. I don't know what would happen should i need them to actually do something

I had the same letter from IM. Whilst I am mighty p*ssed off with IM (sour grapes methinks) I doubt that they are doing anything illegal.

I got my MY05 from Alliance (who I know are trying to sort this mess out), but in the meantime my warranty document (sent to me by the dealer) states that it is a 'pan-european' warranty backed by the dealer in Cyprus. Between Alliance and the dealer I can't really see how the warranty cannot be honoured - basically it is now eff all to do with IM. The only problem here is who is going to do the work if IM have instructed all the main dealers not to undertake warranty work on parallel imports. Work for specialists funded by the EU dealers?

Therefore just how you go about this is something that I will look into if I need work doing (to be honest I don't really care exactly how it gets sorted, just as long as it does - and it will).

has anyone managed to get a price for a warranty yet? it will help me in getting Trading Standards further involved

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/CARS/mot...nty-centre.jsp

there are two listed here, i am waiting to hear back from one, while the other does not do Imprezas. (although quoted me around £450 a year for a Legacy Spec B Twin Turbo AWD on their top of the range warranty package which they claim is equivalent to a manufacturers warranty)

Sorry to hear about the parking ticket - maybe its covered by Subaru's fabulous 3yr / 60,000 mile warranty !!

I got stung once when I got a notice thro the door saying that because I had ignored the first notice I had to pay double - now the "blue meanies" as we call them here, had never given me a parking ticket in the first place as I had driven away before they had a chance to stick it on the screen - apparently the machines they use took about 5 minutes to print a ticket - so you were always in with a good chance ! ! But that didn't stop them from making out that they had served me with a notice ! I successfully appealed and the lawyer said that the blue meanies did that a lot - so just shows how desperate they are. Now they actually take a digital image of the ticket on the windscreen just so they can prove that the notice has been legally served.

By the way - I see that some recent posts on this site mention a letter some have received from Subaru UK - Mr Pike. Would anyone who has got one of these letters be prepared to present a case to Which? / Consumer Association to review / challenge Subaru UK stance ? The consumer association is much more on the side of the consumer than trading standards I would imagine and they have a " free" legal service if someone was willing to subscribe to their magazine for a period of time. Would probably be best coming from someone who has the letter and who has had warranty claim work actually turned down in practice.

Which? site is :

Anyway I've sent Motorhouse a probing email (to try and get an answer in writing) about this and a few other issues; I'll let you know what they come back with.
Latest on my siutation is that Motorhouse have now stated that I'll have a 3 year Subaru warranty rather than the 2 year one they repeatedly quoted before. I have this in an email rather than just word of mouth. They said they will need me to sign a couple of forms and photocopy the V5!?

They have, though, admitted that the 12 year anti corrosion warranty will not be valid, presumably due to the lack of underseal.

I'm not too worried about this but can anyone guide me on:

(a) how to decide if the amount of underseal is adequate;
(b) if not where to get it sorted (preferably somewhere in the West Midlands where I live or around Milton Keynes where I work).

Thanks.

I have though joined the Which legal service (a bargain at £12.75 for six months) and will be in touch with them just as soon as my membership comes through.

I have got outstanding warranty work that was turned down by my subaru dealer but was paid for by Motorpoint, however i haven't had the all important letter from Subaru Uk yet.

I don't know how Motorpoint will have a leg to stand on once i get (if ever) this letter stating i don't have a warranty i would imagine it should be an open and shut case of being mis sold a product.

Now all we type UK car owners need to do is start spreading the rumor that imports will not have been serviced properly, or that repairs will have been skimped or bodged to increase the difference in secondhand prices.

You would say that as you claim to work as a Mechanic at a Subaru dealer but apparently work in the parts department.
