12-year-old tatty imports.

Bubba, have you noticed that those who took offence to what you wrote originally didn't understand the reason for your writing [sic]. Your "toffee nosed" insult came from someone who brought their car without even transporting it somewhere! I wonder if I was the only one who found that ironic!
Having said that, I disagree that being 12 twelve years old means it must be a shed. there are plenty of UK sheds too, except that they are lower spec sheds.
Plus being from the UK doesnt guarantee you know what has happened to it.

Twinkle - You could afford a WR1 and you work in motorsport, are you a six foot leggy blonde as well? If so, i think you could be my perfect woman
Back on point though, a lot of the 93wrx brigade are heaps but are a lot of bang for your buck so appealing to the masses i'm sure. Wouldn't touch with with a barge pole (who owns a barge pole anyway ) though myself.
Own a MY00 uk turbo

Flame suit to the ready!!
I agree here with both sides, I know what Bubba po is getting at, due to the costs of the cars already here being quite low now, the importers are bringing plenty in to feed the demand and it is this which is resulting in lower quality jap ragged cars which people will buy anyway. It isnt going to increase insurance premiums with more people having the cars though which is what someone said in one post due to the cars being a bit tatty, Ive only been driving for 13 years, but not once has an insurance company asked if the car is tatty!!
Guaranteed there are sub standard cars out there, but that can apply to any marque of car.
Also why say that the older cars are driven by younger kids? A lot of kids would prefer to buy new corsa's // saxos (certainly the area where I live anyway) with the free insurance. The only problem with that is because modding parts are cheap for these, so the kids play about with the cars, changing things (without telling the insurers - so obviously driving un insured) it is these kind of drivers that cause an increase in premiums. There maybe some in scoobs who do this, but it is in the minority.
FWIW I have an my92 WRX, yes a 92 and I can guarantee that it is in much better condition than a lot of the newer classics out there. I too could afford a newage but I prefered the classic shape, I looked at quite a few, and it took me nearly 3 months to find one that I liked (unfettled) and I got it, just so happens to be a 92. No rust whatsoever by the way, very reliable, only ever seen the knocklink go to the second green on 2 occasions (not driven like a ***** but hard acceleration on suitable roads to within speed limits etc) and that was probably because I had to do a splash and dash with morrisons normal unleaded.
just my 3.5 cents worth anyway

I get the impression that you think you should have a gold star for owning an impreza,
What kind of person in your eyes should get the fun of driving a scoob?
So **** if most of the imports lately are s hite, what do you expect from a 12yr old or so car " concours de elegance "
The cheap imprezas are making the cars accesable for all people, thats how it works, the cars come down the line and then become affordable for everyone.
These cheap examples are the only way alot of peeps are ever gonna own a scoob, some people who may not have alot of money may have been dreaming of owning one since 1993 but now 12years later can actually rustle up 2.5k to get there dream car,
Fair enough they wont be able to maintaine them , fuel them as they need but who cares aslong as they are happy.

What i used to love about scoobynet is that everybody had time for each other it didnt matter if you drove a 93 wrx or a 22b every body got on fine.
But there is now getting a snobbery about the scoobynet forums , ill give you some examples what i mean
A, Alot of scooby owners think they drive Ferrari Enzos not a 4 door saloon made for gonna the shop in and picking the kids up, there are many people on here which i am sure think that a production impreza is actually a real rally car not an everyday car. (idiots)
B, Alot of scooby owners cannot bare the fact that 1993 wrxs are now obtainable by young lads, so called Chavs , mere motals with a couple of grand. i my self dont mind who owns one
C, People cant be doing with newbies , i my self have got a bit fed up with them.
D, All this talk of chav this chav that is getting stupid, i think its causing some right bollox on here, its been took out of proportion.

i have just bought a ten year old ****box! and im a newbie, that must make me poisonous! but i unfortunately cant afford a new age or 22b, p1 etc etc, so WRX it is, i am a mechanic so can do most work myself, and there is no way its going to have any **** stuck to it! neon washer jets etc etc! as for running costs i know they are going to be quite high, but it is only a 2nd car so im sure i can cope! will only do a few thousand a year! i must admit there are some around my area that i think "why oh why?" but not all us youngsters are like thet?!?! some of the people on this site have been really helpful! Thanx people!

What a shame Imprezas don't come with handbags - you boys would be sorted then!!!!
edit- just to say, those cars that are going to get crashed will be crashed. Those cars that are going to blown up and broken becuase the owner can't afford to rebuild it will be blown up and broken.
Those that enjoy their car for whatever reason suits them will come out the other end with a well-respected car. Look at 205GTIs all the bad ones are nearly gone and the good ones in the hands of enthusiats.
Thats what will happen to the classics irrespective of model.
So there! Pass me my burberry handbag.

5. WR1 - bought by the same people who buy £180 trainers and stick them on eBay 5 minutes later, dumbly giggling and muttering "it's only money..." If you didn't manage to order one of these rarities, Subaru UK recommend that as an alternative you withdraw 30k from the bank and make a giant papier-mache **** from it, to which you can attach your head.
BTW...your writing style is a dead givaway

IMHO is it a great shame that the older models are now comparatively very cheap. The floodgates are open now for the riff-raff to own a high performance car, when before they would be limited to much slower cars. The potential for more carnage on the roads and higher still premiums for Imprezas cannot be far off. The whole image of Imprezas has been tarnished, especially when these cars are "chavved up" with poxy Max Power [sic] stylee add ons.
Long gone are the days when a 93 wrx was worth 14,500 quid (how much I paid eons ago for one). The original exclusivity of owning an Impreza must dwindle somewhat when an educationally challenged oik pulls up next to you at the lights in an Impreza ****box.
It was bound to happen one day.
Also, anybody notice the poor grammar and spelling associated with many "newbies" especially on this thread.

I suppose it's not going to affect newage owners so much but as a careful and conscientious classic owner....... I can see my insurance going through the roof

I'm 23 - 5 NCB and insurance is £710 - Social only limited to 6000 miles a year. This is fine as it will be weekend car only. Don't think insurance is going up...

My old WRX, not a ****box either. Wheels were with it when I got it, not my choice. in their defence though, they were split rim and lightweight
Im not totally against old cars, I think if I get another Impreza, it will be an older wrx or an sti. Simply for the fact I'm fed up of Imprezas and their depreciation at the moment. My real pet hates are bug eyes, but thats a different thread

I don't think Bubba said that all 12 year old imports are sh!tters, did he?
I quite like the original sticker. Original sticker on what is the original scooby after all
Cant quite say the same about the spoiler or the wheels etc....though I still have them.
