Oh...any benefit from moving to a 3-port boost solenoid ?

Or should the 2 port be up to the job ?

Now that i'm going for the TD05, should i opt for a cone filter ?

Or still try and retain the panel filter ?

Does anyone have any advice on the filter ?

Should i just stick to putting in an Sti panel ?
I dont really want any MAF issues, unless there is an induction kit thats suitable.

What else...

List so far..

TD05
Standard 440's
Sti8 TMIC
Walbro 255 pump
Ported headers.

Am in the process of looking at a full 3" Revolution exhaust.
Awaiting prices from H&S for a 45mm up-pipe.
Still undecided on 2 or 3 port solenoid.
Still unsure about fuel reg.

STI Panel IMO unless you really want the sound of a vacuum cleaner desperately.
Revolution system is excellent, though if you are looking around 300bhp personally I would go with a 2.5" system to aid spool up and keep the car more driveable.

3 Port Solenoid for the sake of £30. Proper job and all that.

Fuelling as you have the Walbro I would convert the fuel feed to the injectors to parrallel and stick an SX fuel reg in there.

With the above matched to your current list above, the car at an estimate would be around 320bhp/300lb-s torque and extremely driveable with an ECUTEK remap.

Thanks for that.

Does anyone else have opinions on staying at 2.5" system rather than full 3" ?

Will need to do a bit of research on the parrallel feed, as i wont be doing much of the work on the car.

Parallel will be expensive if not doing yourself and isn't essential; a mod for future upgrades.

2.5 should be better for spool and sound level if not planning bigger upgrades in the short medium term.

Thanks Floyd. Much appreciated.

So that rules out the revolution 3" system i suppose on the exhaust side.

2 1/2" is fine for power up to about 355-360 above that, a 3" is recommended!

Russell

ps - check your SIDC PM about the H&S stuff

As Floyd says, if you arn't doing the work yourself then don't bother.

Something to consider for discussion..... Have you thought about an uprated Samco or related item? The standard one is a bit restrictive. But not essential to do...

Keal is right up to a point. Considering your power requirements, I fell you won't need one right now BUT if it changes (ie, MORE POWER!) then it is a good idea!

Consider getting a Perrin one from the US. Running one on my RA right now and she is flying. Need to remove the Inlet manifold to fit it without destroying the old one................................perfect time to do the Parallel fuel rail mod yourself as well

To be honest, these mods are as far as i'm going.

I'm not looking at it as a long term project, just thinking of these mods as a nice "stage 1" upgrade from standard to give it a little more oomf !

I dont think the mods i have will see me anywhere near 350bhp, so i'm opting for a 2.5" system.

I really dont think the parrallel mod is needed at these levels of mods to be honest.

I almost bought a used Samco inlet the other day, but got beaten to it...just not usre if it's really needed.

You do right. You can keep modifying and modifying, then the standard engine blows. So you uprate it. And whilst youre uprating it you think "Just a bit bigger turbo..." and before you know it, so much has been spent on the car, it's not worth it.

I've modified mine to the extreme where it has become too quick for my windy everyday roads and when the turbo kicks in you have to lift off to avoid driving into the hedge.

Looking back I had most fun in my car when it was a UK spec PPP car with the AST suspension on it and AP 6 Pots.

I was kinda happy with the setup of my last wagon, but i kinda threw lots of stuff at it...and it never really worked out..
I went with

HKS headers
H&S Up-pipe/Downpipe/centre/backbox
VF30
440's
HKS fmic
Walbro pump
Blitz sus induction
Gems Ecu.

Now after all that...it just broke 300bhp !!! And after the money i spent, i was gutted.

But then, i just threw all the bits at it, without really looking into it first.

Dont want to make the same mistake again.

That spec should have made more power. Perhaps the mapping wasn't right?
