You'll struggle to get anything like its true value, especially the value for insurance on selling it.

Why don't you get it reset, or changed into some other bit of jewellery? Will cost to do, but it is more yours than his.

3. The guy wants to sell the ring now
4. Not happy with putting it on E-bay or through a local jewel merchant as not getting enough money for it.
5. Thinks its not morally right to drop it down a drain and claim on house insurance, or some such thing.

Sorry but it dont sound good to me ...... whack it on e-bay and what he gets for it, he gets for it... Call it fate if you like.

As they say opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one, and thats mine.

You have no idea as to why/how my wife still has this ring and without going in to detail, she is justified in owning it.

I do have principles and morals and this is why (a) I want shot of the ring as it relates to times past and was a gift from another man and (b) in getting rid, YES I would like to achieve a good price but will not commit fraud in order to achieve this. We have not bothered selling the ring in the last 5 years as money hasn't been an issue. However, as we are currently moving house, the idea to sell sprung to mind.

Hope you begin to see my perspective.

SSsssshhhhheeeeesssshhhhhhh!

Do a Raffle for it.

One of those 1,000 tickets at £5 a shot. Lucky winner gets a £5 Grand Diamond Ring for the one he loves. You Could even do a 50% goes to a worthy Charity thing.

.

Of course you'd better hope that the Lucky winners fiance doesn't find out

IMO

insurance value £5800

Price you could buy the same ring for £3000

Price Jeweller will offer you £1000 - £1200

All in my opinion, i have seen items valued in jewellers for insurance then the person who owns it thinks "wow thats worth a lot more than I thought do you want to buy it?" jeweller say "yes I will give you xxx which was about 70% less than the valuation.

Auction all the way.

Seems pretty expensive at almost 6k though, but if that's what they've said

I bought one for the other half albeit with a slightly smaller rock, ring and mount all hand made platinum. When I came to pay they didn't charge me for the band and mount, just the stone Now I don't know if they did it on purpose as they have been used by my family for years, or the dozy bloke just forgot.

Well it was free....so whatever you get for it is a bonus.

I would personally give it back..but im sure you have your reasons

giving it back seems like the morally correct thing to do.
