Sat Nav.. Which One???
#33
I used a TomTom Classic for about a year, then donated to my Dad when he took a job as a delivery driver - my dad is not the most technical person in the world, but he found the TomTom very easy to use, and within a week his new boss was asking how he was managing to fit in so many drops in a day, and when they were reviewing his routes on their GPS tracking system, were amazed to find that he was never really getting lost or driving in circles when trying to find places!
The reason I mentioned this is that most of the places he delivers to are new building developments, so often they are not on any maps or don't have proper addresses - so he combines technology with good old fashioned common sense, observation and occasionally resorts to printed maps. So, when using or considering using a GPS Sat Nav unit, bear in mind that it doesn't stop you from looking at road signs or using a little common sense but will make your journey a lot less stressful, and of course if you prefer a certain route, or know that a certain route is quicker, the GPS will re-route as you get nearer to your final destination, you don't have to follow it word for word!
I'd go back to the tomtom go with no hesitation, I just don't need one at the moment as I have no car! I'd like to see what the Garmin units are like, as they are great value at <£200

The Garmin kit is OK; but the screen is tiny. I have a Mitac Mio168 PDA with a built in GPS receiver running TT5, this cost about the same as the little Garmin and is massively superior.

Garmin Quest - around £300 includes full UK and Europe to street level
I added the whole of North America, again to street level, for £100 (inc postage etc)
Wife and I now don't argue over her crapola map reading skills, she can sleep on long drives, so no nagging - everyone's a winner

How many people who are recomending garmin, navman etc have used both a Tomtom system and another system together. If you have used both systems you would be saying tomtom all the way i tells you
