Question Taking Action

I am a newbie both to this forum and to Scooby ownership so forgive me if I break any protocols. This thread relates directly to the 'This isn't good!!!' thread but suggests that those of us directly affected by Subaru(UK)'s decision take action.

I am the proud owner of a parallel import bought from Alliance in September this year. I know that Paul McKenna from Alliance is working hard in trying to get this decision overturned but there may be actions we can take too. Consumer power is not to be under-estimated.

Writing to MPs, the DTI, the SMMT (Subaru(UK) is a member) all spring to mind. Also, Subaru garages - as someone has already pointed out 40% of the cost of running a car is servicing and warranty work and we won't take our cars to Subaru garages if we have no warranty, will we?

Anyone want to join me in this action? It may be a complete waste of time but helps me vent my spleen!

Finally, does anyone reading this have any legal training and can advise? I've read the EU regulations and it seems very simple to me - Subaru(UK) as the sole importer into the UK are breaking them.

I wish you luck with your fight

I'd get some legal advice if you can, you may well need it at some point.

Why doesn't he just hypnotise them in to changing their mind?

Had my 04 STi for a year now and as far as I am aware it is still not registered with the IM after being told by the dealer that it would be sorted out in a week when I discovered that the car may not have originated technically where we told me it had !

Mine is a company car and has caused me no end of grief and bad feeling over the car with my employer when I needed some work doing on it, and I know that I have more to come when the company comes to sell it with no warranty.

In favour of taking action but lets get all the relevant facts:

Link back to the thread in question in case anyone wonders what this is all about !!

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=463695

1. Has anyone who recived a letter confiming their warranty & subsequently had one saying its no longer valid ?? Or is it just anyone that is trying to register from now on - if so has the law changed in any way ??

2. Has anyone had warranty work refused after getting the letter from IM saying their warranty is valid ??

3. What type of market do Subaru (Fuji) class the Uk as ?? Exclusive or Selective ??

Anyone got any other questions ??

Mod's any chance of merging this thread with the original please ???
