i also would like to get into trying something like this, i have built a couple of cars in the past but never really got to use them as the cost of rallying was just to much for me. So maybe this could turn out to be one of the best things we could all do. Do we need a MSA licence???? for these events and also do you need to be a member of a recognised motor club ??

You do need a speed national B licence from the RACMSA for £34, fireproofs and an accredited helmet. You do also need membership of a blue book listed MC, I join Harrow CC for £15 a year as they affiliated to lots of championships.

Terryb, which RACMSA club is fronting your series? Is it just for scoobies? What other championships will you be affiliated to? We generally need 40+ cars to break even on an event. That might be hard going if you are restricting it to one car marque. Sounds interesting though, best of luck with it.
Mark28, our entry will be in the region of £55/event. Its very cheap compared to circuit racing and a good way to start competitive motorsport. Another good way to learn car control at a relatively low speed is to compete in an autotest. Harrow CC runs one an autotest a year at Bovingdon and has invites to many others, such as those run by the MCAC at the Uxbridge auto show. It would be beneficial to join a club/championship that allows you access to other events such as these.
