What am I meant to do for my teenage years? the best years of my life with no worries, no house to worry about, no children to worry about or bills etc. I cant just sit back and twiddle my thumbs for these years, Ive waited so long to be driving and at 17, the time finally came, I love my cars and I know I wont get anywhere near the money back I spend on them but its like anything, its a hobby, we do it because we enjoy it
Lol, good point well made if my bank balance was unlimited I'd probably have an old shape MTM RS4...
As far as your car is concerned I'm sorry but I'm just really **** about how I think a car should look and pretend performance enhancing modifications (scoops and fake vents [like the ones on my MY00]), suck. Insurance has killed cheap hot hatches (my xr2 was £560 tpf&t with no no-claims back in the day!!), and as you sound as though you want to drive NOT pose you will have more fun playing in a standard car that handles predictably and lets go at lower speeds. Save your money and buy something better sooner and enjoy the continual learning process of driving

Not to my taste, but each to there own.
I've never understood the ST24/200 rear bumper, a bloke i used to work with had one on his GTI, i thought it looked **** then.
As for matching a 2.0lt sport, not with the amount of weight you've added in body kit etc.
Not knocking you, so don't take it personally, like you said how many 18yr olds have a motor they can be proud of, they're normally 'borrowing' someone elses or mugging old women.

erm why will it cost you £500 for repair.
and if you want some of my CONSTRUCTIVE criticism:
take of the scoop. put some standard lights on. some standard bumpers on paint it a standard colour and do some "light" exterior mods i.e front splitter or something of the like and some nice modest mud flaps.
maybe i wont be so quick to call your car "chavy"
scotty.

I agree with you Scotty, this isn't a dig at the Escort, but i'm not in to the 'i crashed in to Halfords and came out with a bodykit look', i'd rather just tweek the original look, the problem is there is a fine line to modding and a lot cross it.
It's a case of if your gonna go to great lengths to change the look of your car it's obvious you didn't like the look of it in the first place, and then it makes you think why did you buy it then.

I have explained time and time again about the condition of the car and why I did what I did. Why would it cost five hundred to repair? because the car was keyed down to the bare metal from front wing above and below the swage line, up and down the door in a zig zag and up and down the rear quarter, half of my car needed respraying, thats why it would've cost £500 and if i just simply repaired it and put the odd splitter on, dont you think it would've been an expensive splitter at £500+? Hence having a full respray at the same time and having the kit fit because after taking 500 quid from an 18 year olds savings its a lot of money so it wasnt possible to carry on with my engine plans so why do a half assed job on the bodywork and let some tw*t know hes gotten away with keying my car? at least by doing what i did he'll know he cant get to me by doing sh*t like that, i chucked it back in his face and transformed the look of my car. As for

Dont take this the wrong way thinking im being a ****, im not, just proving a point. But why do you buy a house and redecorate it? If you dont like the look of it why buy it? Because you want to make it your own, where you feel comfortable and happy, to an 18 year old lad, thats how I see my car, I dont have a house to do up and make nice, I do it to my car instead as I spend a lot of time in it as its new to me, Ive been waiting years to start driving and its a great interest and I like to enjoy my teenage years so I see it as a hobby

Not much choice in houses really so can't be compaired and the cost of a house is a tad different.
Now let me see if i can catch another

Also i can understand what you say about the 'If you don't like the Perf...', but i brough the scoob cause i like the car and the fact i know you can make it go a hell of a lot faster, it'll be more fun then any supercar, as nice as they would be to have. I could of brought something else but i wanted a scoob and thats what i brought.
Like i said in my earlier post i'm not knocking you, so don't always be so defensive, unfortunatly this happens, it's almost a case of you've made your self a target by starting this post, it happens.

Have to say I like that, looks like a lot of care has gone into it and it makes a very nice change from all the full on Escort Cosworth replicas with badly fitting kits on that I tend to see about all the time! Nice one mate, don't take what some people on here say to heart

I think you should be proud of what you've done to your car Tilly considering your age and limited finances. Ignore all the insulting criticisms, it's an SN trend lately If you're happy with what you've done, that's all that matters. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I expect a lot of the knockers would have liked a car like yours that will turn heads, when they were 18 years old.

Actually, when I think about it, when I was 18 I had a white orion 1.6i ghia with the white matching bodykit, I would have loved a car that resembled that at 18.

The car looks very well done. The scoop is just wrong though. It makes me feel embarrassed because it lets the rest of the car down. Fair play to you, mate and well done for the way you've eloquently defended your position.

Tilly - your posts are well put together and your car is a great example... Glad you didnt go down the cosworth look a like route as those that arent but try to be are the saddest things on the road...
The scoop doesnt work but the rest looks mint...
My first car at 18 was a 1.1 Escort pop....E reg (Im 31 now )...And was full of different dirty slags every night so you must be having loads of fun in yours (unless you're obese and/or ugly )...

The overall quality of work looks top notch from the pictures. It would of been great to have your skills when I had my mini cooper as I really wanted to put bigger wheels on that but would'nt know where to start chopping up the arches.
I wonder if you will turn into a **** when you finally purchase a Subaru?
