had my MY99 wagon for about a month and have not really had any attention one way or the other, even though it is bright red! What I have had is some ribbing from mates calling it the 'council estate chav car!'. The other joke was, 'does it come with an ASBO as standard'!?

Many kids point and exclaim "it's a scooby" and "cool" the 30-40 age group tend to gesticulate....I think they're offering me a cocktail or something!

I have a MY00 wagon. Don't get that much attention TBH. I think because they don't have the big wing on the back like the saloons people don't tend to know what it is and generally ignore it.

I think the wing is a factor! Big wing = flash git in fast car in many people's minds. The wagon is much more discreet!

Still, I will be getting the Prodrive wing on my MY99 saloon car when I can find one at anything like a sensible price!

We get a lot of people looking i think its cos its a wagon and its unusual to see them cruising about!! We have had a nice designer scratch put up one side of the car but we sorted that out when the camera caught them doing it!! LOL

I'd like to modify my comment on post #2.
Have just driven past 4 lads (bout 11 years old) who were sat on a bench till they spotted me, at which point they all stood up on the bench and gave me a salute and the "we're not worthy" action - Not bad for 6k's worth of Jap tin can

The problem i tend to get is people always seem to think because you have a scooby you always want to race.Ijust let them get on with it most of the time.Ithink the wife always has problems with racer boys more than i do

i think that the " bad attention" is more localised on the classics (as they are the shape everyone associates with a "subaru")....or anything with a hooning great spoiler....

No one has asked me if mine has got nos yet....but if they do, i shall politely reply, yes. As it does

I get the odd look off people when i`m stationary at lights, and the kids in the road were we live always give it a good look everytime I go past. But not to much attention not surprised really as engine and exhaust wise it`s still standard, and it`s a mica pink Bugeye.
The only negative attention I get, is when I hop up queues of traffic, from middle aged and older drivers who are just sat in the queue with no intention overtaking. Everything from light flashing and gesticulation to speeding up and intimidation. No vandalism yet apart from a few car park dents on the doors.
Girlfriend not to keen when she`s in the passenger seat, she thinks it`s a bit harsh; she`s not used to the prodrive springs. But loved it when she got to drive it, pity for her she kerbed an alloy, so I cringe every time she mentions about letting her drive again.

Completely standard 2002 WRX and it gets no attention whatsoever, unless they know about subarus Tend to get the odd look from people when its parked but no trouble or vandalism. When the full de-cat goes on it should get a few more looks though

Don't have a subaru at the moment but remember that sort of attention my old westfield and Caterham used to bring. Mostly very positive with people being complimentary. Got the odd chav hurling verbal abuse at me. Don't know why really. These sorts of cars did turn heads though and although I loved driving them, I didn't like the attention they brought. All this didn't matter when driving out of town though and blatting down a nice twisty back road.

I remember being stuck in rush hour traffic in the Caterham. I had about 30 people actually stop and ask me about the car whilst waiting for the traffic to move again. The worst thing about driving an open top car is that there is nowhere to hide !

All the best.

Martin.

Although I drove a sport, it looked the business and I got a bit of attention. No one ever tried to race me from the lights! I found a lot of people shouting subaru at me for some reason, and one asked me how I can afford an Evo ???
Now I've sold it I can say I never had any trouble or damage to the car, apart from me hitting a ******* fence, I was late for work and kinda didnt leave enough space to stop
Got my caps robbed several times but who hasn't, Spat on and egged but not damaged... Miss it really, looking forward to my turbo, if I ever bloody find one

I get the look into the far distance as they search for the Subaru rumble and ignore the fact its a Forester, import, full decat, etc etc.

Even Impreza owners seem oblivious to it, mind you I am getting close to 300bhp so they notice that when I press the go pedal

Everyone ignores it, no problems parking, chavs havnt got a clue, and thats the way I like it

Typical day was yesterday for me. Windows of the house open a family walk past, dad in his 40's and 2 young sons stop and openly discuss how its the best rally car in the world etc.... Then driving through town and the ladies cant help have a look and a gang of young lads all shouting "nice subaru mate" etc Mines a black MY02 WRX with morrettes and 5"HKS exhaust...
Its been keyed once outside my house but 3 years of Impreza ownership and just a key down the drivers side... Still not happy about it but when I read of the doors being kicked in and keys demanded etc I count myself very lucky...

My STI seems to get lots of good attention especially from kids, they usually wave or stick their thumbs up and give the odd shout if I give it a bit when pulling out of junctions. I always get people young and old asking me about the car, even my mums neighbour loves it and she's about 82!
Yesterday I was sat waiting for someone and a lad got out his mobile and took a picture of it!

Mostly good attention, try not to park anywhere too dodgy, due to having a carbon fibre bonnet, the kids all seem to love it, lots of "cool car mate" and "how fast does it go" comments, pictures a couple of times, most the chavs admire it which is nice, rather that than being keyed or tyres popped.

Get a lot of grief off middle aged mondeo and vectra man, bmw and audi drivers try to bait me for a race, most the time i just ignore them, have been known to embaress them though lol

Plenty of female attention, quite funny sometimes especially when they stop kissing there boyfriends to look at the scoob instead

generally very good, got attention from would be car jackers in a bmw in leamington spa though, didn't hang around !

Thumbs up

I've had mine 2 years now and mostly get a good attention (mainly from the younger ones) Had a couple of chavs shout things a while ago.... said 'we like burning Subarus' as they walked past as I had the window open. Just ignored them.

Had one woman shout out '...nice car, get rid of the girl though...' as my missus was sat next to me. That can be taken two ways...either she wanted my missus out so she could get some action...or my missus looks like a bulldog licking pith of a thistle...?!

Some old bloke on our street starting talking to me while I was cleaning it a few months ago, telling me he used to drive cars for Ford years and years ago...he even had a sit in it while it was covered in shampoo...while his dog was pi$$ing up my neighbours house!

On the whole...its all good!

Better than the Subaru attention though is my wifes MGF - as shes young and ( although I say it myself - which I have to as I've married her and its too late now ) good looking, she always gets the anorak 60's MG owners bothering her.

She was on her own in Tescos once, just putting the shopping in the car, when some old bloke comes up and gives her a flyer for the classic MG owners club, saying they had local meetings etc... WTF ? does he just always carry them around with him, or had he been stalking her ???

Not that I would drive it though, dont want attention from male hairdressers thank you very much !

Mostly good attention for me, but i have noticed that people won't let me out into traffic at busy junctions as much as they did with my old, sensible diesel Pug.

I usualy get all the kids waving and asking the usual "how fast" question but the only abuse I get comes from the local drunks who usualy hurl abuse at a distance but have very little to say when they see the brake lights come on! Possibly something to do with the exhaust making last nights frosty jack enduced hangover that much worse!
