Im currently driving around in a VITO Cdi 7seater MPV, I like it more than my MY01WRX, speed and power isnt everything.
Not that I think my Scoob is fast...its not, in fact it looks alot faster than it is..And to add insult to injury Ive been wasted by a Saxo..
I must learn how to drive.
I have four cars on the path at the moment, an IS200, a TD306, a WRX, and the VITO I choose the VITO every time.
It may be my age.

Stoneysport, I do agree with what you are saying, we drive Subarus and should respect each others choice of car. But it was a sport owner who started this thread calling all Turbo owners tw@ts. Retaliation was inevitable.

To the orignial poster, I know where you are coming from. Easiest thing to do is to ignore the comments. It's human nature to have something out there that you can point to and say you are better than that. That applies to all walks of life and usually has to do with individuals who have low self esteem and big egos.
I drive an STI, which is never going to be a Porche or a Ferrari. Do I care if the owners of either of these marques look down on me? Hell no, its their ******* problem, not mine. I love my car and that's all that matters.
BTW, you need to be aware that a significant number of people who post on this forum don't even have a car, let alone a Scooby so don't rise to the bait.
Cheers

There seem to be a lot of people on here recently who just seem to want to cause trouble. Especially a lot of ex-scooby owners who still insist on staying here to slag everyone off and cause trouble.......WHY?
So Impreza owners love their cars and think they are great...OF COURSE THEY DO THATS WHY THEY OWN ONE!!!!! It's the same on any car forum......just take a look at the Lancer Register, Civic Type-R forum, Passionford, etc. etc. They all think there cars are great (and rightly so).....thats why they own one!
So they realised an Impreza wasn't for them and so decided to sell it for something different (faster, slower, prettier, uglier, more economical, WHATEVER!)......great!......see you later, have fun in your new car!
I have owned other marques other than Subaru and I believe my current car is better than the last one I owned....I don't insist on going to their forums and telling them all the time because:
1) They really don't care and will never agree,
2) I can't be bothered,
3) It just causes unwanted hassle that I think most people can do without,
4) It creates a crappy feeling between other car enthusiasts that end up thinking all owners of that marque are complete to$$ers!
I seem to remember scoobynet getting like this last year during the school holidays aswell! Anyone else think there is a link there?
Anyway, I think on the whole (especially local to me) a scoob is a scoob, turbo or not, no one seems to care and everyone gets along just fine!

Yes i agree the sport and turbo are two different leagues of car , but when you single minded turbo owners are allways basically saying "our cars are better than yours " it comes across as you should still be at school in the playground argueing with kids about how much better you daddys car is then your daddys.

Not all turbo owners are the same! It's a bit dissappointing that it has all come to this really, however what did the originator expect to get with a title like that?
What sort of abuse would be hurled if someone posted on the sport forum with a title: "Rant at Sport ***** !!!!"

Ive never really understood the 'Sport'. Designed by IM to cash in on the demand for their massively over-priced Impreza 2000 Turbo AWD; it is nothing more than a 2 litre GL with some old model Turbo bits, seats , bumber..........
In three years I dont really remember seeing any derisory threads concerning Sports; all of the bitching that Ive seen comes from Sport owners, as here.
Btw; the thread seems to have been started only to pimp an Impreza Sport website.

I can look at this as an outsider, I havnt got a scooby but Im thinking of buying one. Some people need to chill out a bit - its only banter! This happens everywhere, on the MX5 forum the 1.8 owners take the **** out of the 1.6 owners, on the golf forums the GTi owners rip the kids who stick GTi badges all over their drivers. IMO the turbo is obviously better than the sport but that doesnt mean the sport is a load of crap. Ask anyone who doesnt own a scooby which one they WANT and they will go for the turbo every time, surely the NA owners must realise this! For instance what is the better car, a golf 1.4 driver or a golf 1.8 GTi? Its obvious to everyone isnt it? But I suppose if you owned the 1.4 it would be hard not to defend it. You should take the comments with a pinch of salt, its only a bit of fun.

IMHO an Impreza without a turbo is nothing to get wet about. What makes me laugh is people who buy non turbos and make them into turbo lookalikes
Even if/when you do buy a turbo youll still be looked down on others on here, and I expect youll still be moaning.

Mmm - I just don't get this! I am on my fourth turbo (UK classic/2 JDM Sti/JDM WRX). The only reason I buy a scoob is because that the turbo version provides a cheapish performance car. However, Scoobs in any guise are pig-ugly so why someone would get one that performs like a 1.1 Fiesta is anyones guess!

A lot of people seem to be labouring under the impression that the Sport is a Turbo 2000 AWD without the turbocharger. It isnt, its a completely different car with a simple (agricultural) four wheel drive system, mechanically it is a 2 litre GL. I suppose that the original Turbo's/WRX's status as a cult-car, possibly the biggest cult-car ever in fact, is at the root of the problem. People were desperate to bask in the reflected glory and IM played up to this with the Sport and way that they marketed it (and charged for it!). You will notice several 'Is a Sport a Scooby?' threads too which proves the point. The answer is 'no'; 'Scooby' is an affectionate nick-name for the Turbo/WRX model, not every Impreza nor Subarus in general.
There is nothing wrong with the 'Sport', but people should embrace it for what it is. That said; I wouldnt buy a Sport because, while they look nice, theyre unimpressive in every other respect, and the fuel economy is as terrible!

IMHO I think its more of about projecting an image than driving the car; I'd rather have a clio 182 or a 106 gti than a n\a impreza. At the end of the day however its your car so go do what you want but be warned we ALL have our own opinion and you won’t like all of them

The problem I have with a lot of owners, not just on here, is that they think they're car is the best thing since sliced bread and can out-accelerate/handle any other car on the road.....there's just a lot of ego around.
I am a Turbo owner...an import with around 270-80bhp. When I brough it I, like a lot of people thought it was just the best and raved constantly.
Now, over a year and a half later I know the car, like most has it's faults and isn't perfect but that's just normal.
what isn't normal is the attitude towards fellow Subaru owners and the more I read on forums these days, the more I feel like I don't want to be a part of it.

Just come out of the closet. Tell me this. Do you still have the Sport badge on the back?

I have a question for sport owners. I can see from your posts that you are really proud of your cars and the picture that Stoneysport put up showed a very nice looking car, but, and this is the bit I dont get, why put a bonnet scoop on. Why do you want to make it look like something it is not? This is not a dig at anybody and of course it is your car and you can choose what you want to do with it, I am genuinely interested as to why.

Good point
But if people are going to slag off sports then what about people who modify UK cars to look like imports and waste ludicrous amounts of money to get to 300 odd BHP, or, even worse, spend thousands on 2.5 engine swaps for a measly 400bhp
Idiotic.
