You're right of course, I never use it any way. What's the weight on the superlights? My road wheels are rotas - 7.2kg without the bridgestones. Track wheels (shod with corsas) are the six spoke speedlines. No idea what weight they are (anyone know?). Both are 17s.

ICE wise, I don't think I could do without decent sounds until the Scoob becomes a proper second car. The Alpine speakers and CD changer are easily detachable for track days thankfully.

Very tempted to fully lighten it.

Dunno what weight my wheels are, but AFAIK then are pretty light....17 inch Speedline Turini's?

Air con, i took out and i don't have a stereo in it and took the front speakers out. At the moment i have also removed the rear seat's, parcel shelf and rear seat belt's and it's ok as is, but don't know if i'll continue to live with it thisway, as it's a bit pointless, as it IS an everday car for me.

So how was 430 acheived Dave? I ask because I aiming for reliable 350/350 with a bottle of laughing gas for the occasional 1/4 mile grin fest, maybe even the show-ff straight at Castle Coombe.

I have a V5 wrx RA Limited number 0392/1000 - NOT sti.

Standard so far except for carbon wrc-style mirrors...........brake and wheel upgrades sitting in the garage waiting for me to find the time to fit them!

Will post a pic up at the weekend.

This is my dilema DRB. My logic up until Ginge started
geeing me up was - well it's lightish anyway so I can afford a few luxuries without it getting flabby. Mine will be a daily driver as well to a point (as my UK car is currently), I try to get the missus's Fiesta and / or ask her to drive some of the time. But you know how it is, weekend arrives and you want to go out..... fiesta or Scoob? It's nice to be able to listen to a few numbers and get your family and friends in the back as and when required.
Perhaps 6 months down the line when I've got a more sensible daily driver, I'll think about stripping it. Of course, I could always lose a stone (lizzie's nice and slender so no gains to be made there).

The spare wheel will be coming out and the aircon* (the cars in the garage at the mo so i'll ask them to remove it). Boot and spoiler will be replaced with a non spoilered carbon boot**.

As for the side skirts - well with a nice front lip spoiler they'd look alright, but it seems silly to remove things and then add other bits - or does one justify the other???

Yeah thats fine, 7kg is good for a wheel. Lightest is something silly like 5.2kg but not sure how strong they would be

also noticed you've got a front mount intercooler, which is good, but it all depends which Turbo you have. Turbo size becomes even more important with fmic as there is a much greater volume of air and so with the 'wrong' turbo you can suffer lag.

if you are looking for 350/350 you'd be looking at something like a td05 (speak to lateral) but you will also need to upgrade fuel pump, pressure regulator and injectors, and then of course have it remapped, preferably by somebody like Bob Rawle in Swindon. 350/350 is almost effortlessly achievable now in Scoobys.

The other critical question is what brakes does it have

Running Ohlins adjustable suspension (not coilovers as bad experiences there) with custom springs, ride height at 350mm to centre; 18" Speedline GT1 Lites; Tek3 courtesy of Bob Rawle; tidied headers; GrpA downpipe; scoobysport back box and decat; Uprated Fuel Pump and FPR from Lateral Performance

Pure fast road to-date, no track but I think that might start to change soon - Castle Coombe you say, mmmmmmm

Pertinent questions as ever Edwin.

The standard RAs are two pots. They're ****;that's obvious. So they were binned by the owner who owned the car previously and replaced with signature four pots, braided hoses, ebc disks and redstuff ceramics (which I had on my Prelude and thought were excellent). I've also just had the fluid replaced*. This set up is actually quite good but having experienced passenger rides in 6 potted motors (as I'm sure you will attest to) the stopping power is staggering and fade free, both of which are a GOOD THING.

The last time the car was dyno'd it came in at 300/260, but this was without a set-up/map and running slightly rich (thankfully).

Plan is this -

Drive the car.
Fit AP 6-pots front, 4-pots rear. Re-map (the expensive, license purchasing one).

Drive the car.
Uprate Turbo (yes it is laggy, particularly given my UK Car is on boost all the time, but it's actually quite nice to drive off-boost occassionally, reminds a bit of the VTEC), regulator, (Walbro is already on) and injectors. Get it mapped again (just dyno time and although there's no doubt about Bob's reputation Alan Jeffrey will be mapping it. A) He's a good tuner on the right car B) We have a good relationship C) He used to track the car and knows it inside out D) He's based in Plymouth e) erm?.....)

Drive the car.

and then......

maybe......

fit laughing gas for quarter miles and showing off at Jap Fest.

Also on the shopping list is a SECS monitor.



*Actually I didn't because I'd decided I wasn't happy with the brakes. Then I changed my mind and then I had silkolene poured in.

*Incidentally, the above plan went out the window within 24 hrs.

Nice set-up. Would love to see you at Castle Coombe - half a dozen or so RAs would be cool, round up the troops Willo

P.S. Just to confirm yours is a V6. What's the plaque no.? Doing a bit of **** / nerdy listing on the front page.

Ed - can you make it down or will you be in the smoke? You could do a few laps in the oilburner or maybe one of those exotics I believe are on the horizon

All sounds good and sensible, however my only comment would be don't bother with 4 pots on the rear, its absolute overkill particularly with 6 pots on the front. could potentially cause yourself some serious bother in the wet

Just get uprated pads for the 2 pots, and maybe some grooved discs althouth with APs at the front you will find yourself actually greying out slightly from the breaking forces!!

unfortunately I move to London next Saturday, so I will not be able to make it to Castle Coombe.....I will try to digitise some of my in car footage from there before your track day so you can get a look at it from the driver's seat.

it's not too bad, all except for quarry, which catches out even the best people!

suggests there is. Disparity.

Some have even suggested that there was never an Impreza V ltd. Odd.

and a very nice STI matey. It seems none of the chaps in the rest of this thread are fortunate enough to have a pink badge. Almost exclusively WRX RA Lltd.
