Searching for the perfect Chassis
Excellent news Graham!
Mine went straight through a few weeks ago but then it shouldn't have had any emissions problems as it currently has 2 cats fitted!
I've fitted a rather lovely steering wheel in preparation for the DCCD launch mod and am just debating the wiring. The steering wheel has a pair of horn switches fitted so i want to use one of those but it's routing the cable safely through the steering cowls that i'm not sure of just yet.

That's not the issue, the SPA unit is just a quick release, it doesn't get around the problem of twisting the cable.
FWIW I think there's nothing wrong with the coiled flex, it just needs to be the correct length and routed properly.

I'm considering investigating the wiring for the airbag. The airbag was removed when the wheel was fitted (no PS airbag) but the wiring is still present making a circuit through the indicator cancel assembly. It seems like the niceset way of doing it although i need to check what's on the other side of the indicator gubbins with an emphasis on being able to reinstate the airbag properly...
The 'telephone' coiled cable I have is ok, and repeatedly wraps itself very tidily round the indicator housing no problem with no excess at full lock.
To be honest on the drive back from the MoT I didn't notice it (too busy hanging on to the car) so plan to leave it for now till the Loton hillclimb practice weekend is over, then re-think.
There is no room to reliably coil cable in the horn ring/indicator area without the real risk of a short due to chaffing of the insulation.
I am considering re-location of the wheel button just infront of the knurled wheel, so on the startline I can sit there holding the button down, in 1st, with just my right hand on the wheel, release the button when I reach for 2nd.
I can refit my smart OEM Nardi wheel then!
This car has suddenly the feel of a racer now with those plated diffs. They sure do crack at parking speed. Maybe they will soften-off after a while as they are virgin fresh!
Rob, I need to learn to drive this thing now to say the least, but there does seem to be some real traction in the corners now.
We will see at Loton through Keeper's esses....
Mustn't forget the effect of the slicks too!
Bloody hell, how's an old fart meant to keep up with this lot?
I feel a 911 coming on so I can chase Rob's Dad up the hill instead (always a Harriman in front!
)

I'd just had the car wired up to lock the centre at 3/4 throttle and under braking, could also be overidden with switch on dash (also controlled throttle actuated waterspray) - but didn't even get to try it - as the Car was STOLEN.

Modding stolen cars is very difficult as they are not there generaly.

Rob is joshing with you I'm sure. He's had it corner weighted, some better fitting wheels (lighter too), and we're giving it a pre-season checkover. I am sure it will be good though!
All part of the game !!!!!!!!!
John:
This is hill climbing, a gentleman's sport, so I fancy Bullsh!t.
Rob has his TMIC/440cc inj/Turbo for sale (according to Snet) but it is hard to separate the wheat from the chaff at times on here.
My bet is a FMIC/550/18g mapped by Paul and all the usual stories of everyone is gonna get trashed.
The real problems in the class are:
800 bhp twin turbo V8 A4 Quattro on slicks with a good driver
550 bhp EVO 5 on slicks
425 bhp EVO 7 (Rob's bro) with zero fear.
Rob @ 350 bhp with zero fear (family Genes!)
Me + 3 others chasing 5 th place.
Better in Scotland where I hear there is only one Impreza to chase?
Mind games indeed. But I'm too old to be bothered after 14 years of hillclimbing. PB's will be my goal now. The young bucks can chase each other

I didn't realise you were talking about your RA I didn't read the post properly and thought you were talking of a past experience or something, my bad, coming from a family that has had many cars stolen under some nasty circumstances over the years I know what a crap experience it is and apologise if I caused you any offence. Best of luck with getting back on the scene Insurance money should buy you a nice new project mate.

Thanks Rob, I thought your reply was a bit odd!
It was/is insured but it wasn't taken from my home so that clouds the water somewhat (taken form place where work was being done) and I'm worried about getting any money back - keeping everything crossed.
The place where was being done would be insured, ( they are responsible for keeping your goods safe and liable for damages if they don't ) so you should approach them, via the police if needed and inform your insurers, and with luck if you don't get the car back in a decent state you won't lose your no claims discount as it wasn't your fault it was stolen!
I think!
I think!

I used Avons at the last couple of sprints I did and was fishing for Graham but he's not bitten yet
Andy
When I shared my car the 2nd drive had a huge advantage because the tyres were hot. You could notice it as soon as you set off, reduced wheel spin & increased grip in the corner. When we sprinted the R8 on slicks we had 3 grooves cut into the slicks to increase the heat cycle.

Thought they needed 24 hrs between cycles?
If you don't, like you say they feel great for the first few runs on them and then their performance drops off.
Going this far into it, i'm assuming you'll be filling them with Nitrogen Graham?
Much easier to get a grip on correct pressures as there will be less fluctuation.
