graham, have you bothered with the lights? Could you not get them to work?
I can do them for you if you like!

Mark:
You are the slowest tweeker I know! Hope you will be out on the track in 2007.
David:
No, dumped the lights now. Left all the wires I connected to the ecu and even drilled the center console for them, but I'm sure i can find the sweet spot by my wheel counter gizmo (patented now)
What finished me was I think the light cluster I have is not right for the job and was damaged slightly too.
I think I've troubled you and everyone else enough! I owe you a gallon of coffee already, but thankyou very much for the kind offer!
Sure hope what I've done will work.
Need to oil the trans/fit the sport cat (when I make my mind up which one) and then I can run the car/trans while it is up high off the ground.
I hope I will hear a change in the trans while free running otherwise it will have to wait for a road test to the MoT man.(who always gives me a hard time on emissions).

I'm sure everything will work fine, your blessed with better luck than me.
I now have a light at the end of the tunnel and should be able concentrate on my very long project.
Need to move the car to a friends garage, with work, plus the wife having calmed down.
Plan to remove engine redo sump & check the leaks.

Glad to hear that Mark!
I married a girl who likes motorsport so don't have too much greif....
Paul:
You surprise me as the pcb is off an auto box but does have the 6 lights.
Sorting all the connections out and the return would soak-up another morning inside the car and I'm simply fed-up with the whole dccd thing now.
Maybe will try it in the summer or if my wheel click mod doesn't work, but i think it will.
Rob Harriman tried to adjust the position of the dccd wheel while hillclimbing and nearly came to serious greif..so i think the Club Member's practice weekend will be interesting with the Avon slicks/dccd to sort-out.
Happy New Year!
Graham.

Graham,
The light cluster used on v1-3 dashboards is the same one for DCCD and for Autobox. if you don't want it, then I'll certainly take it off your hands as my dash cluster has a hole waiting for it!

Graham, I saw the Dialynx A4 for the first time and everyone should be mildly terrified. It is someting else. Went go karting in spain over christmas and man oh man I can't wait to get back behind the wheel, it's really good practice to keep your eye in , we should organise a snet karting day whilst the weather is so crap I know at least 3 people who are up for it we should drag roy along as well.

I can imagine that the A4 looks really well.
It could shatter the class in 07 and be so far ahead we will be in a class of our own so-to-speak.
This year will be a year of making up the numbers for me with the game moving forward and you and Pete now with a lot more experience I'm doomed.
I don't think I have the nerve to go much quicker; that will be your task again.
It will be interesting to see what Roy does with the Audi there as much as see how quickly Roger adapts to the the A4. Roy could still do it in 07 as Roger learns.
The biggest issue will be getting class entries in my opinion. There will be limited space and the fastest ones will be selected. This could be very discouraging for me!
As to the Karting, Roy's back and mine won't tolerate it!
You only want First Blood anyway!
Is your dad joining us?
Just about to put my sport cat on, going green.
Ordering the slicks at the Autosport show....gulp.

Kev: You havn't seen Rob peddle his stock'ish Sti RA!
Anyway, he knows i will try as hard as I can to catch him. His brother may be a different matter (EVO of course)
Will be at the show Friday for a techie day.
Carlos:
Bought a secondhand Graham Goode system off ebay cheap, but it has a few problems...bit of welding yesterday (in stainless) and a lot of hammering today I think.
Having seen this system first hand now I would not buy one new @ £800.
One day I will learn not to buy secondhand and buy NEW!
I have not enjoyed this winter rebuild at all. Too much grief.
Thinking back to attitude for 2007:
In the class:
AUDI A4 Quattro, 700 bhp ish + bloody good experienced driver
EVO 5 500 bhp ish + etc
Rob Sti RA, fearless. (as above)
Pete, Rob's brother, EVO 425 bhp + fearless (family defect!)
Me? (leave Rob to decide)
2 more Imprezas, one @ 2.5L/dogbox
4 other regulars inc an M3 with a fearless 20 year old driver.
Time Atteck seems a good idea suddenly.

A real battle of a weekend on this ebay Special GG exhaust.
Found stress cracks galore in the centre pipe resonator input pipe so used 6 st steel arc welding rods to stich it all up tight and added 2 braces too.
The back box was very distorted where it had been mauled-off the car so needed some careful reshaping before it would accept the center pipe.
Got there eventually and with a few careful taps of the lump hammer it all got there. Need some new 80mm clamps now, so another order to Demon Tweeks...
The flange on the down-pipe interfered with the turbo mounting bracket bolt, so the angle grinder fixed that and just for once the demon lower 3 nuts screwed up tightly easily (that's a first..)
The fit of the pipe by the box to the lower mounting is poor really though fits ok, just needed a bit of leverage to get it there.
My old quiet system I'm keeping incase this one is too load, but can anyone identify the manufacturer?
This is the only marking on the system:
General view:
Graham Goode d/p with 100 cell Sport Cat, now all wrapped like a new Mummy!
Time now to test the dccd install now I've had a break from it.
Hope it goes ok..

The centre and back box of the GGR exhaust seem quite similar to the Revolution system...wonder if their manufactured by the same people huge price differential though!
It's quite amazing how many 'employees' some 'companies' have around this time of year

Design Director/tea boy/go-fer/prototypist/cheif sketcher to Sales and Marketing.
When I'm re-cycled I'm going to work in Sales and Marketing, just so easy.
Demand everything, or telephone someone to do it for you!
Thanks Tim. I thought you had dissapeared off the planet!

Nope, still here, just no net access during the working day...btw, you've been hearing from me regularly over on 22b (where I'm known as Slooby) and I'm a bit more talkative
My trip to Autosport this year is being paid for by a former employer who is now a supplier...so they have to work on keeping me on side seeing as we parted on slightly strained terms...still don't have pay for the ticket, and I'm in on a trade day (Friday) which is much more interesting for me with the engineering show

Now I've lost my income and (probably most of) our savings (nightmare) my intention of having a more serious go at the HSA series is out the window! Should be able to manage a couple of events for fun though! Looking forward to seeing the new mod-prod field.
Happy new year - not.

Sorry to hear about the troubles Martin.
I found out the truth about the others in the Class this year at the Autosport show....
I just might come 5th or 6th in class if I'm very lucky.
Suddenly, Time Attack is attractive.
Hope it all comes right pdq!
Graham.

Make time for Time Attack then mate. Only 4 or 5 days throughout the year
Then you can get your *** whooped on another series
You may then have to start training for Zimmer Frame Racing

Fully trained on Zimmers, got an Sti version now, ie all go, no brakes.
My Zimmer would need some real brakes I think, but the rest would be ok although i havn't read the rules, and then there are the tyres....
You and everyone else just might reach my mature years yet!
Will come along to watch first, don't like the idea of crazy Young Bucks driving like the Stigg in front of me...but you could all be BEHIND me too!
Ha!
Graham
(good luck with it all, will be a great series)

The monster A4 blew up its engine on the dyno, 3 pistons seized so i hear, it did make 812bhp before it died though which is more than a bit really isn't it.
I went to the autosport show today and it was, well the same as every year really, average. The RCM Impreza is a serious bit of kit though, almost made it worth the trip.

Rob:
I went on Trade day (friday) as sat/sun are crAp.
The RCMS car is sublime and even aspirational in EVERY detail. i wish i had just 10% of the skill needed to do that.
I think you lot are kidding me as I was told:
No news from Roy, though he will be at the Leaders Dinner tonight (too £££ for me) so I will hear things down the grape vine next week.
I am expecting a 2.2 engine/600 x 600 from him with a dog box/sequential shifter.
I heard you have been busy!
I heard that Pete's been even busier...and your Dad has Keith's old A4 circuit basher.(maybe with a turbo V6)
You know what I've done as I'm the only one to talk about it.
So, I recon now:
A4 mega machine
Roy stretched-out
You running like a ferrit
Peter going ballistic
Harriman The Senior with the V6 A4
Bigbrakes' UK turbo with 2.5/dog box etc (experienced driver too)
Maybe me (that will be 6th in the class and not 2nd/3rd in my Zimmer)
Dave Marshes son in the M3 (21 year old nutter)
Mike Gale in the Nissan (another one like you)
John Pheonix
Father and son in the WRX
I think there are 3 others 'floating' about too, one could be Paul from Zen.....
That is 12 +
We will NEVER all get an entry at A meetings and certainly never at B Meetings. I think it will be 8 tops in the class.
If anyone or all are doing the Midland/Leader then they will take the fastest first who are committed to all/most of the events.
There will be some dissapointments to be sure.
Mind you, someone else said your dad had bought Keith's old Silver SWB as a base for a racer which would leave a bit of space.
As to the A4 V8: it will have these issues to start with (but i didn't expect that) but if they continue Roy will be right there as I found out last year.
Roy did 2 x more events than I did so keeps his hand in!
There are alternatives to the midland hills and If I'm refused too many time (ie more than once) then I'll get the message and go!
Time attack is one.
European hill climbs is another.
Something to think about.
Practice weekend regs get posted in about 10 days time.
