according to mr diesel
i quote
A23 Handcross Hill, I was the bloke you tried to flash out of the way in your disgusting abomination 02 plated blue Impreza turbo. Next time I suggest you need to get a faster car and learn how to drive it. The ugly female in the car with you didn't seem so impressed when I moved over and you couldn't actually get past did she? While we are on the subject have you ever thought of going on a diet yourself, it might improve your power/weight ratio. Thought Imprezas were meant to be reasonably good in the twisty bits, I slaughtered you down the hill after you realised you weren't coming past.
I'm sure you managed to work out you were beaten by a diesel as you were engulfed in the black smoke I was kicking out. BMW diesel 1, Impreza 0.
he is moaning about you telling him to move out of the way
but nothing about him road hogging the lane, blocking the OVERTAKING lane (which is what it is for)
and he has the nerve to get pissed off for it ??? HA

A remapped 535D will be getting close to 350bhp and 550lbft and the 5 series is a lot more aerodynamic than the Impreza.
You are going to need some serious power in an Impreza to keep up at higher speeds. Even if the BMW driver is a bit of an ****.
Cheers

JDM, he had a bad attitude? was the the one waving in an insinuating manner? I think not!!!!
there are plenty of idiot who cant drive and hog the outside lane although if he was doing it slower than 70mph as you said he was, what was stopping you undertaking him in the "clear" lane? surely you undertake at 70mph is road legal... not speeding and the speed of that clear lane is travelling faster than that of the outter lane.....
only person with a bad attitude would be you IMO, you could have flashed your lights and made him aware of his incompetence of driving skills..... not defending the beemer driver because its plain to see he cant drive, hes pretty much admitted that in his post by saying he pulled in and shot off....

Would like a go in a DMS 535D - 0-60 in 5.5 no 4wd tranny losses! These things must FLY!
In the grand scheme of things, (near) standard scoobs really arent that fast! My Type R is not that fast compared to some of the motors now available - where the scoob wins is on bang for buck!

I thouhgt this was a Subaru site and stupidly expected a bit of support. I'm telling you this guy just sat in the outside lane doing under the limit. Wasnt going to undertake him for all I new he was a copper. What would you do if someone just sat there blocking the dual carriageway?

Erm undertake. its not illegal if your not speeding.... aslong as that lane is travelling quicker than the other you can go past them. just dont speed and you would have been fine....
your right this is a subaru site, not all of us own a subaru though, may have at some point but maybe dont anymore. Some of us (subaru owners included) know that there are other cars that are quicker... the point is though do you expect people to agree that hes got a bad attitude yet you was the 1 brandishing the wa#ker sign?

If he was travelling below the national speed limit in the outside lane then there is nothing to stop you passing on the inside provided you don't exceed the speed limit.

Can't believe people are suggesting you go for an undertake, I doubt its legal in this instance, and I doubt if the BMW driver was going to let you get away with it either.
Would have probably done the same thing as you, without the hand signs, and would also have been left for dead. There you go, **** happens theres always something faster somewhere, you just happened to find the one driven by a complete ****.

I dont think it is legal anyway. taken from the highway code:
241: Do not overtake unless you are sure it is safe to do so.
Overtake only on the right.
only overtake on the left if the vehicle in front is signalling to turn right, and there is room to do so
So there ya go

Cheers sport, do you know the road being from sussex. Its a well known local blackspot Handcross, I was coming back from the airport and came across the *** in the beemer just after Slaugham, no way is it safe to do an undertake as it has some harsh bends and the other driver may be blindsighted and not even realise you were doing it. Frustration made me do the hand signals I could see the other driver had seen me and he was easing of the throttle to make me do the undertake Im sure. Guy was a tosser despite what people on hear are saying.

BMW535d is quick, so what, it seems the point is the BMW tw@t was sitting at or under the limit in the outside lane, it p!sses me off seeing cars in the 3rd lane on motorways when there's nothing ahead or in other 2 lanes I'd have flashed them too if I was travelling faster as undertaking in that circumstance is illegal as has been pointed out. Why do these big headed ***** drive like they own the roads and don't have to consider other drivers?
And him shooting off because he didn't want to be overtaken just proves what a **** he is.

It's a 2 lane dual carriageway, even if it had been 3 Id still not have wanted to undertake as it wasnt like there was a lot of traffic and if hed been a copper it would have been points time. I tell you if I ever see him again Im following the ****** home and beating the living crap out of him.

JDM, tossers are tossers whatever car they drive. I was a BMW 325i owner until 7 days ago and now have a WRX300 with PPP. I wasn't a tosser before I bought the Subaru. People drive in the outside lane like this for a whole number of reasons, possibly because they're half-asleep or in this instance because he's obviously trying to bait you. Don't fall for it. These big engined twin(?) turbo diesels are massively powerful and the motorway is their territory. Personally, I would swing over to the inside lane, slow down, change my CD and let him do somebody else over if that amuses him. I think it's a pretty sad situation where somebody spends £40,000 (or gets it on the company) on a classy but fairly anonymous looking car like this and behaves like a child. The Subaru has it's strengths (0-60 in 4.8 sounds good to me!!) and I can't wait for mine to get through its running-in period to explore this. He's probably also better at pulling caravans but don't let that bother you either.

yeah I know the road, and agree with what you said re undertake. To be honest I can think of only once in almost 20 years of driving where I have knowingly and deliberately undertaken another driver who was blocking the outer lane.
I think we're from the same neck of woods, did you used to drive a silver classic import ?? and live just outside Horsham, south side ?? or am I amgetting you confused with someone else ??

You are not overtaking when you undertake someone. You are maintaining your lane. Keep left unless overtaking - if you maintain the speed limit, and keep left, there is a possibility that you will undertake someone. Thus the manover IS legal.

You may well be right, but I still wouldn't do it myself and for sure not on the road JDM was on.
To me that rule is used when you have busy lanes of traffic moving a different speeds, in my mind (although happy to admit this isn't correct) it doesn't apply to empty lanes and people blocking the road.
Anyway i think you can be pretty sure this guy was out to bait (and it worked) he wouldn't have let the undertake/overtake on the inside happen

Thanks Sport, I guess if some of the people here saw how badly surfaced twisty and dangerous the road is they would think twice about the undertake as well. I did have a classic Silver import WRX before the new age WRX so it could well have been me.

it wouldnt have been an illegal manuvour if you didnt speed.....
your claiming the road is that dangerous so maybe you shouldnt have been flashing lights and giving hand signals out in an agressive manor and concentrated on driving at the appropriate speeds....
