I dunno, kids today...
There was a time when I drove vehicles without revclocks, yet alone lights, and feeling for when the engine started to run out of breath or drop out of cam which was the deciding point in changing gear, once learnt all you need is to memorise the noise the engine made at those points and you have a shift reminder built into your brain.

Surely you should all have it set so that you have changed gear before 6,200 RPM; due to the standard ECU turning off knock resistance after theis point?

It's bloody handy when running the car in. Over 700 miles and I'm glad it's there, saves me having to constantly check the rpm in 3rd or 4th.
Shal probabaly dial it back down to "00" after a few thousand miles, but right now, it's a boon.

Have to say fellas, all of those of you out there including myself who are in mere WRX's without a shift light - well, I'm fearfull of driving one now. Makes me think how every car I have owned has never had one, and therefore almost every time I changed gear I must have hit the rev limiter, and bounced it off that. But I haven't, therefore I must know when to change gear.
Lets be honest fellas - it's a gimmick pure and simple. For those that say it isn't, what happens when you go to Hertz to hire a car som other place? Do you request one is fitted? Or do you ask for an automatic!
