**tesco 99 ron**
#31
I usually tend to use Sainsburys s/ul for my 99MY Turbo (standard spec) but made a trip to the nearest Tesco (Stevenage) selling 99RON today, paid 90.9p/l, which is only 4p/l more than I usually pay for 97RON
I doubt it will make any difference to the performance of the car (what with the heat and all) but, its worth an experiment at the least!

I read from an email at work (tesco) that all tesco petrol stations with LRP will be stopped and replaced with 99 ron petrol reason being sales are crap with the LRP. I lost the print from the email (sorry) because it had a list of stores that are going to supply 99 ron and from what dates, still trying to get hold of that email from work.
As soon as I do I will get it posted up.

Time to petition Tescos then.
I've made a start
Can we please have your 99 RON fuel up north please - there's thausands of high performance imported cars (built for 100 RON petrol) on the edge of their buckets seats waiting!
cheers
P.S double club card points offer would be great too!

Im half through first tank from the tesco extra at Thurrock Lakeside, and Ive got to say the car runs really smooth with some nice pops and bangs from the decat exhaust. grin! seems to pull harder all the way through the gears as well even in 5th and 6th. (STI type UK)

Here's the list according to this thread:
Bedford 1
Cheshunt Extra
Crawley Hazelwick
Gallions Reach Extra
Gillingham Kent
Lakeside Extra
Ramsgate Manston
Salisbury 2
Sandhurst Extra
Sevenoaks Riverhead
Stevenage Extra
Winchester
Slough (A4)
Camberley 'The Meadows' (junction 4 M3)
Dover and Folkestone on the 22nd of July
Colchester (Highwoods)
Brislington (Bristol)
Leatherhead

If people could add sites as the 99 appears and also add a bit more detail to the locations we could have a nice database for when travelling.

LOL exactly, I buy Optimax cos it's the highest octane I can get around here and cos I have an Optimax points card so I might as well. Not cos I want to keep Shell in business and not cos I believe all this 'better detergents' myth either. Petrol is petrol unless you regularly buy from a one-pump service station in the middle of nowhere that has fuel sitting around for months on end going off. If you think about it, why on earth would supermarkets go out of their way to buy inferior petrol and where would they get it from? A special refinery that caters for forecourts that want to sell sub-standard, sub-octane fuel? It all comes from the same refineries and is just distributed in different tankers, simple as that. IMHO

Have you not read the official response to this from one of the Admin. Guys on here??????
Tesco said they do NOT sell 99ron but only 98octane fuel!!!!
They do after all buy all their fuel from the same petrol wholesalers as everybody else! Thats why nobody else sells 99ron! They said it was a mistake to advertise it as such!
