Excellent advice - funny creatures women

I think you could still find out her views without giving the game away; "office pal just taken his preggers g/f to Paris - do you think that's a good idea?" sort of enquiry.

Plus I assume your destination is reasonably civilised with proper doctors etc in the very unlikely event of there being a problem? Good luck. dl

Surprising comment by her doctor, as if there isn't enough grief at the time, the doctor is suggesting she was partly to blame, nice

The fact that a vast majority of miscarriages happen before week 12, and of those miscarriages a majority wouldn't have flown, how can it have been 'more than likely'. As stated earlier, research has not proved any links.

We flew to NY when she was at 14 weeks, had there been any evidence to suggest an increase in miscarriage then we wouldn't have flown.

I do hope your friend has looked into this further than a doctors inapproriate comment and isn't in anyway feeling that her trip 'more than likely' was the cause.

Yes, totally agree, an astonishing comment from a doctor, especially as the medical profession don't have a clue what really causes most miscarriages.

We had a scan and general check up at about 12wks - it may put your mind at rest a bit if you do this beforehand (if it hasn't been done already).

So did I at the time, however, no point in rubbing salt into the wound, she has come to terms with the experience and I'm sure will "try again", although trips to New York will not be on the agenda this time.

I thought that if you gave birth on a BA flight, they gave you unlimited free flights for the future. I heard this about 10 years ago though, so no doubt things have changed.

Think a lot of newlyweds should perhaps do the same! How many marriages fail in the first 2 years?

Flying whilst pregnant? I suppose birds, squirrels, insects and possibly pigs can. But can a human fly whilst pregant?
I think that is a silly question...

Sorry to join in this discussion late but thought I would add something.

My wife is a Midwife and we flew to Dubai, and from there flew a daytrip to Bahrain and back. She was around 12 or 15 weeks pregnant at the time. I know we went to the hospital for the first scan on the same day we flew!

She did take the precaution of asking not to go through the X Ray scanners at security control, all airpost security were fine with this, and did a manual search of her instead.
