I know loads of people who have owned Alfa's, but not many who have had more than one.
I include myself in the above statement having owned a 156 Selespeed Veloce for 20months. When it was just right, polished, nice weather, everything working it was probably the best car I've ever had.
Unfortunatly the other 95% of the time the wishbones would knock, bushes would fail, trim would rattle and I gave up on the dealers and ended up paying for and fixing the car myself even though it was in warranty.
In the 20 Months of ownership the car cost me £600 in repairs and £10000 when trading it in.
The Brera looks stunning but given a choice I would rather have the Mondeo.
Cheers
Lee

Lee - nobody said it was a sensible choice! As Clarkson said so himself. I love Alfa's, but I've never been brave enough to buy one (came very close to getting the new GT though). If you let your heart rule your head, you'd have the Brera

Ok Im a little biased to the SLR. (I can say with 95% certainty I worked on that very car ) But I really cant understand why he wanted to race one. When he did the DB9 it was a new car and he was effectively road testing it. Same as the 612. New car, thorough road test.
He reviewd the SLR in May 2004! Wouldnt be surprised if Mercedes phoned up and said. "We'll pay for everything, if you race to Oslo in our car"
As for them getting on. I've got a feeling that Hammond isnt Mays biggest fan. Theres been some tension on the show for a few weeks now (I think)

It is a race. Just a race with a fixed result.
Clarkson did mention that hed flown home, before the pair had even reached Oslo. Which I felt was a little rude.
Oh and M-C-L aren. no "A" HTH
