Hi Mark,

Just found out about your group buy (im from the RB5 owners club)

I need new front discs and pads and new rear pads (and poss. discs as well .... still the originals on the car!)

Could be interested in the AP 6 pot kit with 335mm discs .... I take it this would fit under my 17" RB5 Speedlines, would this kit include braided hoses (would be a must either way!) Is there any issues (reliability/longevity) with drilled and grooved rather than just grooved discs, I dont do any track driving. Is there any issues with the AP calipers being used for road use and therefore suffering from dirt, rain etc, etc.

Would Ian do the 300mm rear kit in the group buy (quoted on the website) and, if so, what price .... and also for the lot.

Sorry for all the questions and I realise most should be directed to Ian (when he gets back off his hols!) but, as im sure you'll appreciate, theres a lot of money involved here and I want to get it right!!

Essentially Ian does sell the braided hoses and brake fluid - but from memory this is an extra £70 for the hoses and a litre of DoT 5.1

If you were to go for the 335mm 6 Pot AP's with the 325mm rear upgrade kit and the hoses / fluid mentioned above - you are looking at an amazing braking set up!

I would always go for grooved rather than cross drilled in the interests of longevity - but if you don't want to do the odd trackday then the cross drilled or combination discs should be fine!

The costs break down as follows:
335mm 6 pot AP's £1275
325mm Rear Kit £575
Braided hoses / brake fluid £70
Total = £1920

Sorry for draggin my heels - can anyone with the 2500 pads tell me what the noise is like on them.. is it STUPID LOUD or just a little some times?

I want the best pads but want to balance the noise vs the performance gain? If the 2500's are noisy buggers i'll stick with the EBC stuff...

Thanks for replying to my post .... and for going to so much trouble!

I should be okay for the AP kit on the front but would be pushing it to put the 325mm kit on the rear .... I would have struggled to get the 300mm rear kit (had it been available!)

I may have to go with the standard discs on the rear with (possibly) the Mintex pads. A shame really, as even on looks alone, they are amazing!! .... one of my RB5 colleagues has them ....


I appreciate that Ian wants to end this group buy by Friday (unfortunately I only found out about it at the weekend) and will sort out my needs (and finances!) before then .... and be in touch with yourself and Ian.

gonna have to pull out mark i'm afraid
cheers for waiting for me(as discussed) but i had a bad weekend
went for a re-map when the MAF went then after fitting a new 1 me bloody manifold to up-pipe gasket blew big-time,so that was the end of the mapping,now i need to get that sorted and another re-map

unless he does finance

either that or i'll just get hold of him in a couple of months when,hopefully,i'll be back on my feet
