dump valves are chav because they are fitted for noise, despite the fact that there are documented stories of how they can make the car run a bit rough.
ie, your willing to forgoe function in the name of form.

I dont like loud exhausts either, there is no need to seek out extra Db;s many systems out there are very quiet and very unrestrictive.
forgoing function over form again...

the worst thing Ive seen in recent times in people spraying their cars pink.
I wouldnt **** on a pink car to put the flames out

by spraying a rally derived car pink you are betraying its heritage.
plus, you effectively state "not content with a loud exhausted dump valve blowing car, I have to spray it a garish colour to satisfy my insecurity, just to make absolutely everyone is looking my way"

So many Judgemental W*nkers gathered in one thread again, Mr Lewis in particular is noticable by his Ignorance.

It's tragic that so many people feel they have to pigeon hole others for there own individualality and taste.

Having spent the whole day wandering round hundereds of Jap performance cars at Santa Pod I have seen Mods that made my toes curl and cars I personally would not be seen dead in, but the stange thing is I congratulate, not berate each and every one of them.

How bloody boring would life be if we all had the same. Stepford springs to mind.

pslewis and peanuts etc are quick enough to ridicule others for their own tastes, I suggest that their own Media driven definaition of what a "Chav" is supposed to be, just demonstrates there own stupidity and narrow mindedness.

Getting out more may help but I fer they may have been born F*cking stupid !!!!

i recon that having a dump valve is not chav to be fair. when you see a really nice looking car you expect a roar ,you like to hear the power and that certain noise from the dump valve which 9 times out of 10 everyone looks and stairs with a big grin. if it was chav yould get that noing look of " that tw@ts back again "

I can only be impressed by the effort put in, but sometimes the end result is imho gut wrenching

Hear hear,

I'm sick and tired of all this labelling and hierarchy. Just let people have their opinions without judgement. People obviously get enjoyment out of modding their cars, why are people so intent on putting others down? I've got an upstanding job in the community and am very self conscious of an image I'm 'supposed' to have, therefore I don't mod my car the way I'd like to. Sometimes I wish I could just make my car as in your face as possible, but alas I can't through fear of ridicule. I love the noise of a rumbling exhaust (within reason) and dump valves. On saying all that I don't like exhausts that are, what I class as out of proportion to the car they're on, but that's just my taste. It doesn't mean it's wrong and should be labelled. Let everyone express their individuality. Label me a chav at your peril
I'll get off my soap box now,...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you are insecure you wouldn't wan't to be stared at. It takes a certain amount of self confidence to drive around in a pink scooby knowing that there will be many who will snear at your choice of colour.

By what you are saying, anybody with a scooby that's not WR Blue is betraying it's heritage.

They only bleat because they aren't brave enough to try something different themselves and to make themselves feel better they take the **** out of those that have the imagination and *****. It's classic jealousy I belive

Thick skin applied... and as Sponge Bob would say.... I'm ready I'm ready

Using yout Imagination is to create something different.

Everybody who does the same mods as everybody else with the same style backbox, atm dumpvalve and body mods is as bad keeping it all stock. IMO it lacks just as much, if not, less imagination.

I agree a Pink car is different and somewhat individual, but its not really me. But then you wouldn't catch me at the New Orleans Mardi Gras either

I was asked what car i drove, when I replied impreza the response was 'how chavvy'. They didn't ask if I had a dump valve or a huge exhaust! It's the big spoiler, and the huge scoop that do it! Honeslty couldn't give a flyin **** what people think, i love my Scooby and wouldn't swap it for anything else. Now to get rid of the spoiler, put in an FMIC and a sport bonnet ;-)

Come one, everyone, let’s cool it down before someone gets hurt (or banned) I have an opinion on this whole issue, so I’m going to share with you all.

IMHO, most people who has bought a Scooby or some kind of a performance vehicle at a reasonably young age would have at some stage whacked on a loud exhaust system, and if that wonderful first performance vehicle happens to be a TURBO car, it’s got to be done, if only to try it out.

I happily admit that when I first had my Scooby, the first thing I did was to get an unbranded, loud ***** of an exhaust system, with a cherry bomb! And since, I changed to an even louder system, made solely out of light-weight titanium, made for Japanese Drag Racing Association competition use… now, that was stupidly loud that my ears used to hurt when on boost!!!

As for DV, if they are for chavs alone, well, that would make 90% of regular circuit goers in Japan with turbo cars chavs, then? I think not. It’s just a done thing. You have a turbo, you have a blow off valve. All the major tuning companies do their demo cars, and even if it was for “show” rather than pure performance reasons, I certainly would not call them chavs.

However, to those of you shouting abusively towards Andy (peanuts) and Pete Lewis for expressing their opinion, I have to say, “Grow up!” They are entitled to their opinion, just as you are free to do whatever you want to with your cars. If you say you “don’t give a **** what others think”, then DON’T! This is a public forum. where we express our views on a common topic. People will always have opinions, and you will not like everything you read. DEAL WITH IT!!! Do what you will. Just don’t expect everyone to like it.

I read someone write in this thread that if everyone was the same, it would be boring. Well, people have different opinions. Doesn’t that in itself make life less boring?

Rant over, and out

Keigo, it's not what their opinion is that ruffles everyones feathers, it's how they put it across - being rude is not a necessary part of an opinion so therefore it's uncalled for. Besides, P Lewis is a tit In my opinion of course
