I'll give u mid-life crisis!
Unless you're taller than 5'10" & weigh more than 17 stone, you'd better b glad u live in Essex or we'll b round 2 rip your spoiler off!
When u get 2 b as old as us & can actually afford something like a brand-new RX8 u might think differently!
Were the ones u saw being driven or being DRIVEN? We DROVE ours!

I just sold my 2004 Z4 and got a new scoob, the extra doors and boot are more practical for my job unfortunately.
I too have noticed in the last few days that at 26 maybe I was a lot younger than most of the folk I have seen driving a Z4 recently. Given how the **** has fallen out of the prices, it wont be long before it becomes more attainable for the masses, then the age of the driver would probably fall.
The Z4 is a fantastic car, and in terms of a driving experience is second to none at that price range. I still dont know what to make of getting rid of the Z4, but for some reason the novelty of it disappeared too quickly.
I get more looks/stares at the scooby, which I find incredible as the Z4 is arguably one of the best looking cars on the road.
And, no, I don't have a big spoiler etc, etc.......
The whole Z4>subaru experience has, in the words of Vinny Jones, been emotional. I think I made the right decision, but its nagging at the back of my mind that I've done something daft.
Then I saw all the old geezers driving them in the last few days....................................... **** it, good luck to them.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
I see a lot of fat balding(or shaved heads trying to hide the bald patch)/grey 40-50 year olds driving late sti's and they look just as daft.
Thing is so what!
These are the people who can afford the insurance and cars more easily.
Good luck to them and I am sure I will happily join the ranks when the time comes.

Can I ask?
Is it also mid-life crisis if the said 40-60 year old who is loosing his hair goes out and buys something like an Austin heally 3000 or a morgan +8? tally-ho pip pip If I am in the fortunate position to be able to afford either of those two classics when I am in that age catagory then I intend to be 'sad cad and bounder' too.
or is it simply the choice of car that causes the problem?
I dont know about you guys but i would rather the population was full of balding mid life crisis man/women in his/her new (probably hard earned) Z4 than lexus lighted, 'neon'ed, excessively winged and body kitted (dare I say) scoob.
Each to their own though.

They maybe shocking to drive now by modern standards but at least they are/were highly entertaining. Some of the modern 'fast' stuff is just too uninvolving (IMHO).
Also Im blinkered as i have fond memories of scarey speeds around devon's finest country lanes either in a moggy +8 or mk 1 lotus cortina. those were the days!
roll on mid life crisis when i might be able to afford one by then.

Talk about mid-life crisis....What about old-age crisis?
The other week in Henley, we were looking at a yellow MG ZR going past slowly with lots of stickers etc. and smoked windows, but imagine my surprise when inside were a real old doddery looking couple who must have been in their 70's or even 80's. I thought it was great that two old people can enjoy their car and pretend they are young again.

Or their Metro with the fish sticker was in for repair and they had the courtesy car
Truth is, first impressions are no more than just that.

I was sat on the picnic style bench outside the chippy saturday afternoon enjoying cod and chips in the sunshine when suddenly my girlfriend started choking and spluttering and pointing behind me. I looked around and beheld an amazing sight. A bright yellow Elise piloted by an elderly lady of at least 70. In the passenger seat was what could only be described as her mother.
Funny as F*** and fair play to them I say
