**** Group buy update *****
Ok after trying to see if we could get a UK supplier to match japan's prices, we have been told no chance
So the original order to Japan is back on, but with some final questions answered before we proceed.
Q1. I need to ask them about the customs point that was raised. They want to do a single drop (obviously), but to avoid the cost of customs (and remember your shipment if individual can still be stopped by customs for a charge), i am asking them how much it is to ship to each person on a seperate basis. and also if so what are the cost implications to us a group.
Q2. If shipped individually then does each person have to make their own arrangements with them regarding placing the order, payment and so on.
this second question also covers the query about those people who might be wanting to order other stuff , like me and some of the GB panel filter guys.
This way we can make our own orders up,but we shall see what they come back with.
I have emailed graham at Japan parts, so lets hope he comes back soon with an answer and then we can start
BTW, i know that one of you guys did a GB on sti pedals from STI racing.what did you do about customs and the extra costs???

Default *******UPDATE GROUp BUY *******

Ok sorry for all the delay in this but I thought it was only fair to give you the reason for the delay

Basically just as i was about to finalise the GB with Japan Parts, things all went Pete Tong !!
Becuase there were loads of questions from you lot about the cost and the possible import duty and VAT, I made a few enquiries to the cutoms office about the extra costs that might be incurred on the pedals (i also did the same on the sti panel filters etc)
At the same time I contacted JP to ask about individual shipping to each buyer, to maybe save on the cost and to alleviate any delay. Also mentioned that some other suppliers (did not name any) can mark the pedals down as no-vat due etc.
Remember this was all just speculation and I was still trying to get the best possible price for myself and you lot.

well the reply back was short to say the least and they were pissed off that we were apparently trying to avoid the tax and they did not operate like that !!! and we could stick our order where the sun dont shine !!
well after some more email negotiations the matter was resolved and they apologised but still stated that they would not ship individualy but a single drop to me.
I wasnt too happy about their attitude and combine that with the extra costs that I now have from the customs people, means that I felt like not doing this GB at all.

Put simply, we can still do this GB if you want, but if you add all the extra charges, then the pedals are coming at at about £89
yeah still cheaper than some places but is it worth the hassle??
oh and anyone paying by paypal has to add an extra 4% so more costs...

I welcome any advice or if you want to take over this GB you are most welcome. I can furnish you with all the costs, contact details etc.

Sorry for all this, I just didnt expect such a hassle on a small things like blinking pedals

bummer.

Well I think i'll probably just go ahead and order them somewhere else, at least i've got more chance of not getting hit for customs that way.

Cheers for the effort you've put in though, it's much appreciated.

Well done Tony. You persisted where others would have just packed it in.

I'm almost relieved you weren't putting the order in as I've just splashed out on an HKS SSQV on ebay.

thx for your support on my efforts.

I felt really bad about letting ppl down, esp as i wanted a set myself
But they way i got emailed back from the suppliers (I wont paste it on here as other ppl have had good experience with them) just made me pissed off.
I mean he apologised afterwards, but it just made me feel as though I was trying to screw them and all i was trying to do was to get us lot a good deal.

sorry if i let ppl down and i cant remember all the people that i had waiting to pm them, but if I did i would have.

I will do other GB in the future, just not bloody sti pedals

BTW, if anyone knows of somewhere else to get them in time for xmas then fire away

LOL I'll wait n see. If I'm online, if and, when I get a reply I'll try him for a GB. If not I'll forward the price to the people that signed up for this one, yourself included.

Cheers for your efforts once more,

Each email was more detailed, explaining how I had a possible GB in progress and still nowt...
I wonder as well if you wants to do business but obviuously not .
