I agree for not a lot of money, the Integra Type r. , or for similar money you could pick up a R32 GTR Skyline, my friend has a GTR that is slightly modded. The feeling you get when that boosts is something else.

Billgtt - tis worth noting that the only reason the clutch cables snap on the rhd 5GT turboes is because the enormously long cable is routed too close to the exhaust manifold. The cable gets very hot in one place, this dries the internal lubrication out in the cable sleeve and you get a tight spot which eventually causes the cable to snap.
If you get some heat sleeving from Agriemach and wrap the cable in this it will stop/slow down the clutch cable going stiff and eventually snapping.
Found out through experience!!!

lol.. Billy boy taking advice on a GTT eh youve been told
my Mazda RX7 is the quickest motor Ive been in, thourghly recommend 1
on the other hand I agree with Bill, the 5 GTT is a top car and if modified and looked after properly they are reliable as any other car Ive ever had... go for it, you wont regret it.

Mike, yep that's true about the length of the cable on the RHD gtt's. Another reason being due to the Volvo 480 turbo clutch that most people upgrade to. They make the pedal so damn heavy that they can snap cables for fun. But that can be solved by fitting an extended release arm

Fastest unmodified car i have been in has got to be a certain '02 996 GT3, though its not been pushed THAT far yet
Fastest modified would be a twin engined westfield megabusa with NOS

I think it is to do with what you are used to and how you persive fast.
The first time I **** my pants was being driven by my friends dad in his 198? Honda Prelude. It was around xmas time and I was 9 or 10 and it was really dark going down country lanes. Probably not that fast but he was in 2nd and 3rd right up the rev range making it seem fast.
That was my first seriously fast experience - lol........
The next was when I was 14 I borrowed my dads n/a Audi Quattro. Went for a little lap in that - seemed very fast and with 5 pot burble as well !!!
When I passed my test I didn't get a car for a while, but a few of my mates did - 1 mate was your typical just passed his test drive like a ****** sort. He had a 1996 Corsa Sport 1.4 16v. Nice car indeed and SERIOUSLY quick, although he ragged it lots and lots. After a year or so he binned it on Manchester Road near lady bower. Those who know the area will know it isn't a nice place to crash !
He then did his student thing and didn't drive - then got a mk4 Golf GTI T. He then got done for drink driving. Loser.
Other than that, I had a 300hp Volvo T5 - but even at 160mph at just over 5000 rpm it still felt quite smooth and refined.
Scariest car ever for me is a series 2 land rover. Everything about it took the greatest of skill - and a loss of concentration for even a second would result in havoc !!!
Loved it though !

Caterham Superlight R500 is about the quickest road car I have driven. The 500 is to signify 500BHP per tonne, which is what I call a power to weight ratio. Autocar got the following performance figures during their 0-100-0 challenge:
0-60 in 3.21
0-100 in 6.92
0-100-0 in 10.73
As an example a Suzuki GSX-R1000, hits 100mph in 5.03 but could only manage 10.89 on the 0-100-0. As I said, the R500 is about as quick as a road car gets, bar really extreme beasts like the Ultima GTR, thats even quicker, but I am yet to drive one of those!
Other than that the quickest point to point car I have driven, and possibly my next car is a Noble M400. The 400 stands for, you guessed it, 400BHP per tonne but what a car!
0-60 in 3.5
0-100 in 7.9
Quite simply stunning to drive, if a little sparse inside, though makes the Caterham look like a Bentley! GT3, Evo, Scooby and many other cars would not stay with one on a track and I would sum it up as 'sorted' well and truly!

Fastest car i have ever been in has to be the TVR Cebera 4.5. Me and my old man borrowed one for a day a few years back.
I have never seen or felt accerelation like it, think the 0-60 is 3.9 and 0-100 is 7.8 or something like that.
And the noise too was something else, I am trying to raise enough money to get one of these asap as the memory of it will always be with me.
Have to agree with the person who mentioned pug 205 gti,s they are very quick. A mate of mine on this forum has had various ones over the years. Fastest being the turbo technics 1.9 (crazy for a tin box) and the standard 1.9 feels very fast too.

where exactly can you hire a cebera speed 12 from?. isnt there only one road legal one which is privately owned?.
I thought the rest were all racing models and not road legal.
not to mention that if it was hired for a wedding how the **** would the bride get in to the car with that roll cage!.
Am i wrong?

The speed 12 was a concept that actually never came to production, though a race and road car were built, the road car was recently made road worthy and driven a few weeks ago, but its not a car that would be hired to anyone, let alone someone for a wedding....

I'm with you on that one, a work buddy used to have a Dimma 1.9 turbo many years back and it was the first proper fast car i had been in. Around 190bhp on high boost in something that weighed less than a ton. It was rapid and with none of the midrange weakness that you normally get with CTR's, 182's etc.

A problem with all the lightweight kits is that you sit so low that on a lot of UK roads you can't see as far as in a "normal" car. When you're talking things this quick, you are generally limited by three factors - (a) how far you can see, (b) how many risks you are prepared to take, and (c) how good a driver you are
I have been out in a no expense spared trackday uprated type superlight R, and tracked my brother's 300+bhp/tonne Fury a couple of times (about as quick as a normal superlight R on the track, obviously not quite R500 quick), so I'm not talking from a purely hypothetical standpoint.

In the wet the R500 is not a good car as traction is a real issue. On a smooth and dry surface you would need a dam site more than 500HP in a saloon car to stay with it. Point to point on the road I believe the M400 would actually be quicker than an R500 as it is easier to exploit its power delivery and is far less peaky.

If you're comparing with a well driven 500+bhp scoob - which might do high 10s for the 1/4 mile at >130mph. IMHO either is so fast that you will very rarely have the visibility, space etc to use anything like their potential on the UK roads, and even then the driver is usually more of a limiting factor than the car. As you said, the Caterham also needs smooth dry surfaces to really give its best, which aren't always available on UK roads.

Fastest standard car I've been in was my old mans Audi S$. The BiTurbo one. Hit the 155 limiter on the M6 (North of Tebay).
Second had values are quite low at around 10K mark depending on age/milage etc. A superchip gives it extra power aswell.
He's just ordered the new Audi RS4........ B*****d

I suppose it depends on your definition of normal.
I have been lucky enough to drive;
Ferrari F60 Enzo not sure how fast i was going - just peering out of the front screen and hanging on for dear life, got it into 5th on a straight and had it just off of the rev limiter
Porsche Carrera GT - The V10 engined thingie 'only' had this upto 150
Both capable of well over 200MPH,
Bentley conti GT at 170mph indicated
Had my scoob showing 160MPH - so probably around 145 in real terms
Been out in a Skyline R33 (cannot remember the designation) but saw 160 on the clock
Mates 2dr cossie saphire, claimed 350BHP, saw 160 in this
