cant speak highly enough about Portmeirion got married there in 2001
good tip pete for a superb three course meal book for sunday lunch for about £17 at the hotel (not the castle) and you get free entry to portmeirion which is around £6 each.
Also good restaurant in borth called blossoms but owners are in process of selling so they may not be there by half term

i stayed here with the missus a few weeks ago fantastic food in the hotel
the rooms are a bit laura ashley but overall its a good place greatview of the eustary but if you go out on the sand watch the tide 0 to 60 in about 3seconds

Now as for Crib Goch [Red Ridge] I'm proud to say I once had my 27" knobblys over there too. Felllow rider unfortunately came down in a chopper - but that's another story [and no I dont mean ON a Chopper

Where's Nant yr Arian ['Silverbrook'] Chris?
What's the proper way to pronounce it? Isn't "Y" in Welsh "e", so "Yr" becomes "er"?It's on the A44, about six or seven miles west of Aberystwyth. Nearest village is Pont-erwyd - there's a Foresty Commission visitor centre there and some cracking MTB trails.

Crib Goch ridges and the Snowdon horseshoe is IMHO one of the best walks you can do in the UK. I confess to having a soft spot for Snowdonia in general, particularly around Betws-y-coed and Llanberis (And I do remember many visits to Pete's Eats), Some of the other local hills are good (Tryfan, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach), and spent a great day climbing waterfalls round Ogwen Cottage. Beddgelert is nice but in a slightly greener, woodier way.

'Nant yr Arian' Chris - 'y' as the 'u' in 'unsure' and then the 'r' needs your tounge to join in and flap about a bit - like the Spanish do
