Question Thinking of visiting Snowdonia

in half-term, does it ALWAYS rain there?

Where is a good place to go? Is it safe for the English and Scoobies? Do they know what cars are yet in N.Wales?

Anyone know what the weather forecast is like in that area for the first week in June??

Pete

The North Welsh can't read, maybe??

No-one knows the answer??

No-one cares less??

Why would it worry you so??

There will be a sensible answer soon!!

There is an old saying in Llanberis.
"If you can't see the mountain, then it's raining. If you can see the mountain, then its about to rain"

Grew up there...

Cloud hits mountain - cloud loses...

Caernarfon [castle & sea]
Llanberis [proper mountain, railway, lakes]
Blaenau Ffestiniog [steam railway, mountains (more of), slate mine attractions (nice big drops )
Beddgelert (stunning)

If there is an ounce of motoring enthusiast left in you you could head for Morfa Bychan beach at 18:00 - free handbrake turns and 'car control' doughts after everyone's left (no need to break a sweat or the law and exceed 30mph either) Also Anglesey circuit is close.

Stay at Portmeirion Hotel or nearby Castell Deudraeth - twice as nice and half the cost of London hotels.

It depends if they think that a gag involving a 4 legged animal is the height of original wit (consider smack in chops) or instead bother to say 'thanks' in Welsh (consider free bag of lamb chops). The Welsh are about 5 years behind the South East and GENERALLY still like cars - if they like you they'll LOVE the Scooby (LONG SHOT I know...)

Maybe you should consider Cornwall?

One thing that should be noted is that the North Wales Police LOVE cars, after all they generate a hell of a lot of income for the area through extensive use of mobile safety cameras.

But as you never speed, Mr Lewis, this shouldn't worry you

Spend some money Pete and treat the grandkids to some hotel luxury. You're not going to be around forever and they'll appreciate it for sure....

Also partly grew up there well most school holidays at least
still go regularly to family cottage in Borth -Y-gest

view from cottage.

cant speak highly enough about Portmeirion got married there in 2001

good tip pete for a superb three course meal book for sunday lunch for about £17 at the hotel (not the castle) and you get free entry to portmeirion which is around £6 each.

Also good restaurant in borth called blossoms but owners are in process of selling so they may not be there by half term

Mountain biker heaven

It's North Wales, the weather is unpredictable, but the scenery is amazing. I'd be quite happy camping though the last time I went was for a week in November, nice cosy holiday cottage for me, fire blazing every evening. The locals are friendly provided you don't start with the sheep ******** gags Saw quite a few Scoobs when I was there and got waves from most of them.

Betws-y-coed is a nice place to stay.

Mountain biker heaven
Hopefully the predictions of sunshine and 20C for Friday will extended into Saturday for my planned visit to Nant-yr-Arian

Pete, go for a wonder over Crib Goch - you should find it easy in your moccasins
