Maybe, but in real life (maybe I don't belong in this thread ) I think the difference between 4.8s and 4.2s, or whatever, is a fluffed gearchange, it's academic TBH.

The 200mph Corolla, or the 2.0 turbo'd Clio, or even a scoop-less and de-spoilered scoob, now they're sleepers. IMHO They promise 50-100% improvements on performance that is suggested by looks. Impressive as it may be, I don't imagine hawk's car accelerates at double the rate of another 996, or has a top speed twice as fast.

Anyway, I drive a cheap diesel, so I guess I should just leave now and let the big boys play, sorry Call me when it's a "my house is bigger than yours and has a sea view" thread, I might be in with a chance

Speed isn't just about 0-60 though. The achiles heal of Scoobs and other overblown ordinary cars is when aerodynamics, weight and rolling resistance becomes the main obsticle at speeds over 100mph. That's when torque becomes the dominant force, allied with good design and aerodynamics. Pauls RUF will go from 70-130 almost as fast as it will get from 0-60. Try achieving that in a Scoob. When he booted it alongside us on the motorway we all laughed, and then cried when he told us he hadn't even dropped a cog as he left us for dead. Add the fantastic cornering abilities (4WD and PSM) and you have one awesome package.

Anyway, the debate was about the most expensive not the fastest

agreed I didn't realise guy was on scoobynet though, mine does however have the longer gearing and will hit over 210mph...

Unfortunately the wide body has strange aerodynamic properties at that speed, the back end seems to go very very light, that coupled with your eyeballs popping out

It is a stock (ie bodyshell) 996 TT but has had the RUF power upgrade and it in the porsche world a sleeper, pull up alongside another turbo driver (mine even has the badge on the back) put your foot down and see expressions such as :- shakes head, looks at gearstick to check gear he's in etc is all good fun.

As corradoboy mentioned the biggest thing is aerodynamics that coupled to a 3.6+ litre lump behind you. I recently took it out for a blast (on a private runway of course) and managed 160mph in one gear (30-190 in sixth) the flexability is astounding.

Brenden my car doesn't accelerate twice as fast as any other 996, but when it does go it pulls ahead very very quickly AHEAD of any other 996 (that ive come accross)

Sub 3.6 to 60 and 8 to 100 is mighty quick

cool, sounds like a great package, the four wheel drive must be a big help in the lower gears! There was an interesting feature on Fifth Gear a few weeks back with some R Turbo's and an original CTR I was amazed at the speeds the Yellwobird put in, not bad for a car pushing eighteen years old! It shows the quality of the product I guess

I think this thread is really cras.

Fastest is one discussion but most expensive just smacks of poor taste to me.

Also have to agree with david, am pretty sure some of the big imprezas would actually give hawk's car a damn good run for its money up to and well beyond 100.

0-100 in the 7s not the 8s from those, and I wouldn't be surprised if andy and paul are in the low 6s.

I would certainly expect mine to dip below 7.5 when running full boost.

Would I rather have the porsche? yes, but only to sell it and pocket the money. Far too many 996TTs (not rufs admittedly) round these parts. I would save up and get me a carrera gt, not so common and some are changing hands at 250k now.

Mine only cost 42k-- 7k for car & 35k mods so not expensive .

Didnt the winning Porsche only do 197mph down Brunters recently, my 15year old Ford did 201.8mph & has about 100bhp more for totb4 when I expect it to pass 200mph in 1.25 miles.

i'm sure you've earnt your money and made the right decisions etc... still depresing though!

wez don't take this thread to heart, it's meant as fun, it may not make you feel any better but 8 years ago I was living mainly off veg that I grew in my own garden and driving a £100 ford fiesta pop in baby sh{te brown, things will get better just try and stay positive.

I agree Adam that many impreza's will probably beat mine but it depends how you define quickest ......

I'd also agree that there are other really exotic cars i'd like BUT typing on the computer i'd rather sell a porsche 996TT and SAVE up for a Carrera gt is probably one of the most crass statements ive seen....... think about it if you've got to SAVE up for a carrera gt you'll never really be able to afford it.

Is this really a bragging shop aimed at saying "I've got more money than you" so as to make certain people feel better?

Not aimed at anyone in particular mind, but this is Scoobynet and not PorscheNet.
