Bought another gearbox for the princely sum of £400 then paid £120 for fitting(wallet breathes deep sigh).Unfortunately the new gearbox has a graunchy type noise coming from the transfer box so told the guy i bought it off and he told me he'd give me my money back(fair enough).
Took my original gearbox to a reconditioner for repair cos figured at least i know it'll be right when i get it back and told it'd cost £300.
Was now thinking thats not bad cos obviously £300 for repair,£120 for fitting and then get £400 back for the other so only £20 out of pocket.
Told its a 2 day turn round cos they keep most bits(fantastic)
Rings them on monday after 5 days they then ask me"is it a uk or a jap box cos there's no third gear left" tells them its a jap "yes sir we'll order that no problem we'll ring you when its ready"(that old chestnut)
Finally run out of patience today and ring them back to be told"Sorry couldn't get a third gear so we've put you a complete triple syncro gearset in,That'll be £600 please"(falls over on the floor with shock)
So i hung up and breathed in a paper bag for a few minutes and then rung them back to see why they didn't think to phone first, babbling not paying that much phrases etc and the guy says "i'll see what i can do"
You lot bored yet?
Anyhow he comes back on the phone and says £500 for cash so i agree begrudgingly. Then i phone my garage and they can't fit it till next wed.
Now thinking well there goes scoobyshootout,so phones back ther gearbox place. They then say yeah we'll fit it fri morning for £80.
So there is a god woohoo.
So should be ther at the next meet(fingers crossed)
Gearbox Gled the Ebay kid!!

Glad to hear we're finally getting ya back, it's always amusing to hear how you've gone about fitting your latest Ebay purchases to ya motor, how's that wheel nut bung holding up??

Well guys picked up the car yesterday and drove it all the way back from Cleckheaton with a big grin on my face ,went for reverse.......................
Oh sugar where's reverse gone.Bit greater effort mmm still no reverse i know what i'll turn it round down there and just drive it in to park it.
Oh dear now we've no gears at all.
So the run of good luck continues and i guess i won't be playing at scooby shootout after all as gearbox place not picking it up till monday
Only consolation is its now got a uk fifth gear so fuel bills should be a bit better.
Still got my fingers crossed for next meet though

Reverse? You're in the WYIOC.. we don't use that for our runs..

Tell em to stick a 6th forward cog in instead.. That's more like it..

Sorry to Joke at your continued bad luck.. But I'm sure someone else will be along to take the pi55 and hopefully keep you smiling..
No really.. bad luck mate.. hope you get it sorted and back on the road for next Thursday!!

Look it's either reverse or a handbrake. You don't need both

(Well, Al cued me!)

When all this really gets too much for you, there's one consoling thought... YOU'LL BE BACK ON THE ROAD BEFORE I WILL

I'm working on an epic one about a 900BHP superduper gearbox shredder that our chairman is due to take delivery of.

Plus I'm in the middle of a 15 minute window, hopefully the next 45 minutes will see the SCUM comprehensively asskicked (no offence )

Got it done at top gear.
Knew i shoulda just bought one off ebay

Been told its probably a selector fork thats not seated properly, but anyhow the trauma's nearly over now and at least it won't cost me anymore cos its guarenteed for 6 months.
Probably woulda blown my engine at scooby shootout anyway knowing my luck.

Sticky - I thought a clearance was what Courts had when they went into administration. No - not THAT sort of court...

Either that, or some form of colonic irrigation on the NHS.....

PS. You did look a bit fooked when I left....

PPS. Semi slicks...?? They're slippier than a greased eel on freshly hosed polythene.....

Unfortunately I'm not gonna be able to make it on Thursday

I have to go to a funeral on Friday and it's in Clacton so we are travelling down Thursday night to avoid all the traffic Friday Morning

So you'll all have to wait till next time for me to show you me bits after the treatment at the Clinic on Wednesday

Manners aren't your strong point at the moment, eh Chris?

Let me enlighten folk...

Out on a bike ride with him yesterday, popped into a pub for a pint, ordered a little food, and went and sat outside.

30 mins later, and no food yet, so Sticky totters off inside to give the bar staff a bollocking, only to be told they're very sorry, but there's around a 30 minute wait at the moment. Pee'd off and hungry I walk back outside to see Chris tucking into what's left of a combo starter (to share!!!!)

...anyone with manners would have surely popped inside and removed my hands from the throat of the bar maid, rather than eating all my garlic mushrooms

So this combo starter to SHARE then, that you stuffed your face with HB, how many potato skins were there, was it more than 3 but less than 5 per chance?

Erm.... Who said that four divided by two was an even number...??

Besides - the description on the menu was "to share". It didn't say anything about sharing equally
