I'm a SurreyScoobies member and I think it looks awful.

In fact I cringe slightly upon looking at it. I'm sure I'll speak to Gareth at future meets etc, and by all accounts he's a good lad. I just hope he doesn't park next to me though

falling into the wrong hands
this statement makes me quite cross! Should we perhaps submit our CV's to Subaru before being given the go-ahead to buy one stating our intentions on future modifications?

No car model is undeserving of change if that's what the owner wants. It's not an elitist club with rules and regulations. Why is it ok to mod a corsa and not a subaru? Irrispective of power what really is the difference?

Wrong hands indeed - you don't even know us, our circumstances of life nor anything else for that matter - we are no worse or better than anyone else We are just displaying our individuality and attention whoredom

Message for eidolon - no, I have no vendetta and as I have my own scoob there is no advantage in sampling the inside of Drex's Why does everthing in a blokes world have to come down to ***** size and sex?

blah blah blah.

its because normally modifications like these are associated with 'cheaper' cars. this is because most of these types of modifications are carried out by young men who lack either taste or life experience. I wonder if you would be defending this wagon so vehemently if your own car was not so....errr...individual

I only remember one, but I think it was probably the one with the MRO kit. It had a very, very "different" bonnet scoop IIRC.

What has life experience got to do with taste or gender for that matter? I'm defending his right to do what he wants without people being so damn rude about it. This thread belongs on barryboys with the attitude of some displayed here.

My car is not out on a limb individuality wise, there are many cars in all shape and form that have stripes, it just so happens that subaru didn't add them to their catalogue but doesn't mean they shouldn't appear at any stage.

Soulgirl, here's what I meant by 'the wrong hands'.

That wagon looks like it was modified by a lax-power reading charver, and I assumed (maybe wrongly) that the owner was a young lad around 18/19. An 18/19 year-old is the wrong hands for a Scooby IMO.

I have no problem with modding scoobies, mine was extensively modded, and there are some lovely modded examples around, Fatmanscooby's being one of my fovourites. And aside from the dodgy colour of your graphics, I actually think yours is nicely done too (my 6-year-old daughter loves your graphics BTW ).

The issue with that wagon isn't the fact that it has been modded, it's the fact that it's been done badly, and as I said it looks like a cobbled together mess, with no thought gone into it.

Yet its OK for you to be rude about people voicing their opinion on SN or OC?

You have to accept that if you do something different from the norm or something that isn't generally accepted as "cool" your going to have to face up to some flack.

My car for instance has a 3 foot long Prodrive sticker on the front splitter. Many on here said take it off but tbh I quite like it so its staying. DreXeL and I have both posted pics of our cars on OC and had the wee taken in the process.

Anyone got a pic of an Impreza Sport with a Turbo bonnet? Haven't had a row over that topic for a while.

try re-reading my post (it’s not really too complex a theory), these types of modifications are generally associated with...oh bollocks you know what, I really can't be bothered if you can are missing my point on purpose then so be it.

Why are YOU defending it, surely if he gives a flying he would...hold on I'm repeating myself AGAIN

Yeah if i posted that on BarryBoys it would probably win 'shed of the week', because it looks, in my OPINION like a shed.

Maybe there was a reason 'Viper' stripes were not offered as an option by Subaru (possibly the same reason you can't get neon’s on the option list )

But why do people feel the need to give flack in such a derogatory way? For example, if you walk down the street and see someone in a car like that, would you walk over and say 'oi mate, your cars fukcing ****e, you should be shot and your car crushed' - no, you don't (if you do, you must be some kind of ****) you just laugh about it without the owners knowledge, so what makes a forum any different. It still unnecessarily hurts peoples feelings.

Drex wasn't happy with the resulting anti-flack displayed here so went to gather adversaries over at overclockers which has now turned into a collective slanging match. I wasn't being rude, they mostly are spotty teenagers

Now you have resorted to sarcasm - of course I comprehend what you are saying - I just don't agree with your theory.

They're not viper stripes - they're just stripes, and many other cars rolled off the production line with them.

Fair enough.

Cry for help? - Well, I guess you did your car up as it is because you like the attention. If thats right (i'm only drawing conclusions so if i'm wrong fair play) I just wonder -

What do you think that other people think when they see your car go past?

Do you think that they think it looks cool? Cos i'm guessing most of the looks you get are actually along the lines of "wtf has she done to that car".

Not wanting to get into a scrap over it but a lot of people who mod cars in a certain way do say they do it for attention - but the reality is that the attention they get is not appraisal, it's "omg wtf" is that attention.

Still, maybe i'm getting old and out of touch.

I'll miss my car, but I wont miss getting the scoobywave off guys driving round in cars such as that wagon. Not like i've anything against them personally, i'm sure they are all nice enough people if a little misguided

You are wrong about my reason for posting over at OcUK, and I've already explained that to you. I posted it for the same reason ScoobyDAZZA posted it over at UJCC, because it's a funny thread. Not to 'gather adversaries'.

Why do you have to have everything repeated to you?

The MRO kitted one belongs to a mate of mine, I'm not going to start kicking up a fuss about some of the things people said about it in the original scoobynet thread though, seems to have been enough of the same in this thread already!!

All I will say though is I think his car looks great, and as many have said if all our scoobs looked the same, the meets would be a bit tedious!!

its because in their (and my) opinion, it really does look that bad...its an indication of how strongly the car (or whatever), has made them feel. this is a bbs for scoobs, that means that most if not all feel strongly enough about their car to join this bbs, so the reaction is going to be that much intense. so if a car is so erm, 'very different' from the norm it will get an appropriate reaction be it very positive or very negative…

So if we say something about someone's car we are automatically making a personal attack on them are we?

not sarcasm, frustration.

OK, how about Cobra stripes (can't think of anything earlier with similar)? Impreza's didn't tho did they...

btw, Im not a fan of that wagon, But, I can appreciate the time and effort the guy has taken to get it looking the way he feels is right. I think alot of the critisism on here has been OTT as usual. Would like to bet that theres a high percentage of "keyboard heroes" added their tuppence into the pointless debate too, but would they say it to his face if they met him? PMSFL
