OK, HARD FACTS!!
These figures are for 1st April 2004 ..... a year ago, so add on this years pay increase from 1st April 2005!!
Head Teachers Pay:-
Leadership Spine L6 .... £36,432 - £42,525 - this is the MINIMUM a Head will get paid and applies to a very small school, maybe 40 pupils aged 5, 6 and 7 years old and 2 staff!! (a little cosy village school maybe?) Bloody EXCELLENT if you ask me!
The Top is Leadership Spine L43 .... £90,360 - £96,450 - this is the tough end of the scale, maybe 1600 pupils aged 11 - 18 years old and about 60 Staff? .............. again, I don't think you can complain at those numbers!!
So, at a guess - Mrs Vegescoob - as a High School Head, would be on about £70,000 ..... yes, I can see how she is struggling
Pete
So, if YOU want Petrol Tax to reduce - get the placards out and parade around your local school asking for the pay to be cut!! Mind you, you will be lucky to find the Teachers there - its quite likely they will be on holiday!!
Oh, yes, make sure you attend between 8:45am and 3pm - outside these times they are home!! Heads do put in many more hours I have to admit!

nicely put. So when are we going to protest, and how. Is there a website setup to co-ordinate our efforts?
And, how many people are prepared to come along, and spread the word?

The Petrol Tax goes to fund the Education system and its quite correct to state that Teachers are getting inflation busting pay rises TWICE a year!!
If they weren't the Tax on Petrol could reduce!!
Its a VERY valid point!!
Someone could argue that we do not need a Nuclear Deterrent, that would lose me my job and also save money - hence reducing the Tax on PETROL!!
My point is you CANNOT have reduced Tax on Petrol AND keep the Public Costs as they are ................
SO? what do you want to give up in the public services to get cheaper petrol??
The fact is, if it was hurting ANYONE on here - they would NOT drive 18MPG Imprezas!!!
So don't come the crap with me!

I think you may have missed my point that the tax should be levied elsewhere to get the total take back up.
I'll have to ask. Just what is your job. You say losing our nuclear deterent will loose you your job, what do you have to do with our nuclear weapons???

But thats just an example .... the Nuclear Deterrent is expensive and it probably takes a few pence off you on every litre of petrol
Education takes a bigger slice off you ......
Lets not get confused, I cost you money, a Teacher costs you money, a Surgeon costs you money, a Pensioner costs you money .......
So? what would you have the government do? Not give 95 year old Mrs Jones her heating allowance so that some Roybacer can race around in a car that returns 18 MPG????
We MUST face hard facts ...... if you don't like paying Fuel Tax, buy a Diesel that gives you 65 MPG!!! Thats something YOU can do for YOURSELF!
FFS why must you always call for someone else to solve your imagined problems??

So Mrs. Vegescoob is missing the Jaguar and the pay pslewis implies.
I know exactly what she earns, seeing her payslips.
So, best she asks the Governing Body, "where's the bl@@dy Jag?"
OK, she'll take an 05 STI with fuel allowance, say at MPs mileage rate.
Btw, pslewis, do the Head and staff at the education establishment you are a governer of, know your views about how well paid they are and how easy they have it?

petrol and post !!!!!!
there was several white papers on the north sea economy, and it highlighted
a massive loophole that exsists for north sea oil.
if i recall current procedure is that the north sea producers shell esso bp etc, pump the oil for free, and no charge is levied for this. (why its our oil, not theres!! )
they only pay a small tax on every barrel refined,
the white paper proposed charging for every barrell pumped, resulting in a bloody big income from our resource!!!!, as well as each barrel refined
enough money would be raised to effectivly wipe out duty etc...
how come no gov has gone through with this...
would you let someone take your resources and sell them, with **** all in return???
oh and pete. when you can hand on heart say our education system is the best in the world, given that childhood illiteracy is one of the worst in europe. then you can be qualified to add constructive comments.
the fact with this greedy goverment, is more quango,s diversity checkers , and mumbo jumbo civil servants have been created, thats where all the money OUR money is being spent.... Prehaps if the deadwood was thrown out the money that we are fleeced for could be put where its needed.

The petrol companies will put it back up, you DO know that right?? We are paying what we are paying - the Essos and Shells will take up the slack.
But, hey-ho, lets ignore that for this excersise:-
Where would you now take the money from to fund that 20p a litre drop??
Pete
Would you favour taxing those who earn over, say, £80k a year - 60% Tax?

It never ceases to amaze me how someone will spend £3000 on making their car do 12 MPG and then complain like fury if Petrol goes up 2p a litre
The word PATHETIC springs to mind!

Smokers are ABSOLUTELY great for the country!!
They do something that we can tax heavily.....
This thing will kill them before they become a burden on the pensions.....
They smell, so blind people can hate them too .....
They are too thick to realise that we are using them as **** to feed the country ......
Don't knock 'em!!
