MY07 Impreza - Auto Express today

That is the worst attempt at photoshop I have ever seen from a so called professional magazine, Alfa 147 at the back with a Seat Ibiza front end with half of halfords chav accessories added on. I never by this mag as if you look back at some of the sh1te they have come out with you have to laugh. If I'm doing the shopping in Tesco I will flick through it, laugh to myself and then head off in search of food. Please can someone e-mail the editor with a link to this thread so he is aware of how much of an a$$ they are making themselve look by publishing this sort of crap........roflao

The general opinion here seems 2 b that the pic is not 4 real then???
Sorry, I don't get it, is this an attempt by AutoExpress 2 b funny, annoying, sell a few more copies, what???
Don't usually buy the mag, prefer 2 drool over things in Evo 4 example!
Don't b 2 quick laugh-it-off tho, remember the MX5 has been the world's best-selling roadster 4 what, 15 yrs+ & is now apparently being turned into a mini RX8 or something!
Just because something's brilliant & everyone loves it as it is doesn't make it safe from being fiddled with!

I wish my views could be as 'moderate' as yours are chaps! That picture on the front cover of this weeks Auto Express is a total insult to the Subaru name. If I want an Alfa Romeo 146, (which I never ever do), I will go out and buy one. But to have an already superb looking Japanese iconic car made to look like an Alfa Romeo model, just because some narrow minded ''designer'' at Subaru happens to design Alfa's, then that is unacceptable.
An Impreza hatckback, why not? But an Alfa Romeo with Subaru engineering? No thank you.
If anyone at Subaru HQ reads this, let's see a future Impreza which COMPLIMENTS the current and model, not totally extinguishes it. And to finish off, if that 'Alfa-look' is so good, why aren't they selling by the bucket load?

Quick to diss
Before being critical of an artical and magazine it would be good to read it before commenting.
It states that Subaru chief engineer says that they "might" change direction (design) and the car could be "smaller". The designers are ex Alfa and Seat hence some similarity in the pics. At no point does it state the pics are official they are photshopped (badly) and hint at what it may look like. As the intercooler is being moved to the front the scoop will go.
Oh and if the editor of Autoexpish is reading, I take blank cheques for this kind of endorsement....keeerching.

guys
just received this reply from auto express regarding the feedback-
Mark,
Thanks for the link. Always interesting to read feedback on our work Even
if it is less than positive. However, I thinnk you'll find that with a bit
of research you'll realise that we are not the only mag to suggest that
the Impreza will evolve into a hatch. It's currently quite big news in
Japan, and is being hinted at by various engineers working on the Impreza
project.
While I can accept the reaction to the image we used, please understand
that currently this is the only way in which we can illustrate a story
which we think is extremely important. Judging by the forum's reaction to
the story we are not wrong.
Please also bear in mind that Peter Lyon, who wrote the piece for us has
lived in Japan for the past 16 years, and has excellent contacts within
Subaru and STi.

Helloo....it's not like Subaru are the current trend setters in design. At least this will set them apart a bit rather than current deisgn which is pretty poor to be honest and has hardly changed in years. I don;t think anyone could ever call them beautiful cars - more recognisable than anything. I think the intetior's have always been pretty poor, and are only now getting better on the O5 model because of the heavy influence of Saab!

Impreza will evolve into a hatch with 2l engine for the rally and then the current car will grow into a untamed 2.5 or 3l beast with no rally regs issues etc. with trick (ATD style) diffs etc.

What the editor said: "We have a reporter who's lived in Japan and has spoken to some Subaru guys who said that they'd heard someone hint that the next Impreza might have a hatchback version".
Am I the only one to think that there is a world of difference between
"we are not the only mag to suggest that the Impreza will evolve into a hatch"
and a front cover declaring
IMPREZA
OFFICIAL:Subaru reveals it's a hatch!
